DESIGN

Alienware M15:

For the build quality and the design language which by the way is called epic industrial design after the epic silver lid that you can still also again if nebula red is a little too blingy for you it’s still a very rigid chassis it, still has the only wear design aesthetic so for those who would like a lien where, this is going to be aesthetically pleasing to you it’s for those of you who think that anywhere looks too out there still even though it’s calmer than some other gaming laptops on the market it’s not a stay to say something like the Razer Blade 15.

Razer Blade 15: 

For the design has changed quite a bit I always thought that the 14 inch blade looked a lot like a MacBook this new 15 inch blade looks a little bit more unique the corner radius is a little bit smaller slightly more boxy or shape.

.I think it looks really good there’s some noticeable improvements in build quality as well so the chassis just feels more rigid it’s a tighter build. I think it’s one of the best-looking products from Razer so the logo is still right in the middle it’s sunken in a little bit more and it still lights up it would be cool if they released a gunmetal color like they did on the stealth but something tells me they won’t do that any time soon you can get skins for them the D brand one in matte black looks really cool.

WEIGHT & DIMENSIONS

Alienware M15:

In the terms of the weight it is measure around reduction you can see how much it weighs on screen and in terms of thickness they’ve done the right things here. It is measure at 4.8 pounds.

Razer Blade 15: 

4.56 is the weight of new Razer Blade 15. The dimensions are 9.25 x 13.98 x 0.66.

KEYBOARD AND TOUCHPAD

Alienware M15:

It is decent keyboard and reasonable travel it’s fine to type on but it’s not so awesome the trackpad doesn’t light up but the trackpad is still really very excellent. The old style of keyboard it wasn’t Chiclets and trendy looking but it was one of the best things to type on and is good for gaming this one’s kind of more like your typical 15-inch gaming laptop.

Razer Blade 15:

The keyboard when is first up pictures this layout was concerned it reminds me a lot of the keeper from the razor blade Pro and I did not like that layout very much and it’s essentially the same layout so here’s the issue the shift key on the right side and the arrow keys are positioned in a very untraditional way normally.

Shift key is right beside the question mark and just out of muscle memory when you’re doing a question mark you’ll hit shift question mark just really quickly and it just makes sense right you’ve done it a thousand times in your life probably a hundred thousand times your life but on this keyboard there’s an arrow key right between them and it’s actually quite difficult to get used to it. I’ve been using this thing for about a week at this point and for the first two days it was very irritating.

PORT SELECTION

Alienware M15:

Thunderbolt 3 as well you’ve got DisplayPort you’ve got HDMI and you’ve got killer a 2500 Gigabit Ethernet and everything but an SD card slot because the only we’re just doesn’t like SD card slots so that part’s good what isn’t so epic are the speakers.

Razer Blade 15:

On the right side there’s a Kensington lock port, mini DisplayPort, full-size HDMI, USB Type-A and Thunderbolt 3. The left side of the laptop gives you two more USB Type-A ports, an analog headset port, and a rather unusual port for powering the laptop.

DISPLAY

Alienware M15:

144 Hertz full HD display Dell who owns a aware and you always have options with them so you have the 60 Hertz IPS panel these are 15.6 inch and these are all matte non touch the spice and you have what we have which is the hundred forty-four Hertz IPS non-touch matte despite which is awesome because the fast refresh displays are a thing these days and after having used that enough and reviewed enough of them.

Razer Blade 15:

Finally user upgradable memory, I think that’s something that a lot of people have wanted over the years it’s traditionally been soldered on on the razor blades it’s now replaceable you can also replace the SSD and the Wi-Fi card and on a device like this it just makes sense to not have G sync and have technology in here to extend its battery life because that’s why you want something that’s thin and light importable I do like it though it feels secure the rest of the ports are pretty standard you got three use bas a Thunderbolt three with some display outs but there’s no SD slot.

BATTERY

Alienware M15:

It’s quite a big battery for a laptop in this size class and given the weight they’ve done a good job with them if you go with a spinning hard drive instead which, I don’t recommend because well it’s slower you know you get to be more careful with motion it takes up more space inside so you can only get a 60 watt hour battery.

Razer Blade 15:

For the battery life is fair it’s an 80 watt hour battery, I’m getting around five and a half hours of battery life with the screen at 250 minutes this is with the screen at 60 Hertz so, I’m actually reducing the 144 to 6e just kind of preserved battery life so five and a half hours and this is what, I was talking about before. I feel like without g-sync you get Nvidia Optimus which helps extend battery life.

PERFORMANCE

Alienware M15:

Intel eighth generation perform like six core, CPU the thing just runs darn hot 100 degrees centigrade is the maximum allowable core temperature so we’ve seen so many gaming laptops thin lights and not so thin in lights really getting close to that thermal maximum and throttling a lot now with this one it actually the surprising thing is it doesn’t do any worse than it’s much bigger chassis.

Razer Blade 15:

For the performance is great it’s running the 8750 H it’s a six core CPU excellent for multi-core applications there are two GPU options there’s a 1070 max Q and a 1060 max Q that 1070 gives maybe 25-30 percent better performance in the 1060 it’s not insignificant but it’s also a little bit thicker like half a millimeter thicker it’s barely noticeable but there is a difference.

The performance in games for either of these cards is gonna be great and depending what you play or what you want to do with your laptop, you’ll have to make that decision for yourself my unit runs pretty warm but I’m not seeing a throttle that’s cutting it kind of close so if you’re live in a warmer climate or if you play your games in a room that doesn’t have air-conditioning then you’re gonna get warmer temperatures keep in mind this is at stock though.

I did try under vaulting and XTU and I got it to like negative 130 millivolts and temperatures are noticeably better now cooling a device like this is not easy every millimeter that you shave off this laptop to make it thinner and thinner just makes it exponentially harder to cool it properly and this year they did a really really good job.

CONCLUSION

Alienware M15:

Alienware m15 finally are relatively speaking thin and light 15 inch gaming laptop for you Alienware lovers out there and they did a good job certainly of identification and lyta fication without making it look any different from the rest of the, Alienware series that’s a good thing if you like the Alienware look you got that rugged build quality you have the same design aesthetic and your choice of either out there Nebula red or the more chill epic silver.

Overall device is really good this year nice design awesome build really powerful components good thermals the keyboard is really my only gripe but if you’re thinking and adapt to it or if you don’t really care about those issues that, I mentioned about that shift key and arrow key then I think you’re gonna really like this device.
