Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Logitech G433

It’s not flashy, it offers decent sound and it’s the most comfortable headset from Logitech thus far but it is gonna cost around hundred dollars. The sound of the headset is also good enough for the price.

Steelseries Arctis 3

The SteelSeries Arctis 3 is the least expensive in the Arctis lineup. All of the Arctis headsets use the same mic, drivers, and are extremely comfortable. So, if you don’t need the USB connection, RGB lighting or don’t need a wireless headset then you can go with the Arctis 3 and save some money.

The sound of the mic and headset is also good enough for the price and the mic design is very impressive.

DESIGN:

Logitech G433

An immediate stand out from handling this headset is that it feels solid. It’s not flimsy or fragile which is surprising giving it’s plastic frame. It also doesn’t make annoying creaking sounds like other headsets built with plastic. Since its intended to be the sort of everyday life style of headset, the gamer aesthetic is gone.

Steelseries Arctis 3

The Arctis 3 is available in black or white and they go for $50. The quality of the headset feels top-notch across the board. Everything’s plastic for the most part but the plastic has a really nice feel to it. It’s solid and it doesn’t feel cheap and it’s lightweight without feeling hollow. The headband is a single piece of plastic with rubber lining on the inside.

The headset is a clean and simple look. If you want something a little flashier you can jump up to the Arctis 5 which adds RGB lighting.

COMFORT:

Logitech G433

Now, I haven’t exactly like the Logitech’s headsets in the past since I found them to be uncomfortable for long sessions. However, the G433 is a significant improvement. Although, it’s not the best in terms of comfort I can use these through an entire workday or gaming session without irritation. It tends to clamp a bit tightly but not to the point where it’s unbearable.

Steelseries Arctis 3

The most unique thing about the Arctis headsets is the headband. SteelSeries uses a ski goggle headband with Velcro to adjust the size. The headband is super comfortable and you really don’t feel any pressure on the top of your head. My only little complaint is that the Velcro itself is pretty small, I have the headband set to the smallest size and it still feels a little big for my head. They could have made the Velcro larger, obviously this isn’t a problem if you’ve got a big head or lots of hair but it might be something to think about if you have a small head.

The ear cups pivot up and down and they swivels. So, they can lay flat. These just feel really well-made and solid. The swivel super smooth and nothing creaks. The ear cups are lined with a nice rubber material that feels good and doesn’t show smudges or fingerprints. The fabric cushioning on the ear-pads is really soft and comfortable, I prefer fabric to leather for gaming since these don’t get warm at all. The cushions are removable and you can buy leather cushions from SteelSeries for 15 dollars. To me, this is the most comfortable headset I’ve used. The ear cups are very roomy and deep, so they don’t put any pressure on my ears and the headset just feels so light on your head.

There’s very little clamping force almost too little. For me, they fit a little loose. These would be easy to shake off your head or if I’m looking down they will start to slide but for me that’s a trade-off. These are easy to wear all day long and I literally forgot I was wearing them when I was working and the music stopped.

FEATURES:

Logitech G433

The G433 comes with plenty in the package. You’ll get two 3.5 millimeter cables, one is braided and approximately six and a half feet long and another is a little shorter just under 5 feet more suitable for mobile use. The flexible microphone detaches with ease and makes sense for mobile scenarios. It comes with an audio and mic splitter in case you’re using a device that doesn’t have the combo 3.5 millimeter port. A USB digital to analog converter or DAC allows the G433 to use DTS headphone X which is virtual 7.1 surround sound but it’s exclusive to PC.

You also get a little mesh travel pouch to take them on the go. In addition to the stock mesh ear pads you have the choice of microfiber at your pads to swap in. I much prefer to the microfiber since the mesh feels little rough and doesn’t grip my head as well.

Steelseries Arctis 3

This headset will work with the PC, Mac, ps4, Xbox one, and mobile devices. If you use them on the PC then they’ll also do 7.1 surround sound although you’ll need to run the Steelseries Engine 3 software.

Inside of the box, you’ll get the headset along with an activation card to register the headset with the SteelSeries engine software and a user guide. You also get a few cables, first you get a proprietary cable with a standard four pole audio jack on the end and the other is an extension cable with a headphone and mic jack broken out to use this on a PC. So, you’ll unplug the end of the standard Jack and plug in the extension.

All your controls are on the left ear cup. There’s a volume wheel which is easy to get at when you’re wearing it and it slides really smooth and right above that is a mute switch for the mic that is a nice click. On the bottom or your audio jacks, you also have a shared jack which is a standard 3.5 millimeter audio output. You can plug another pair of headphones into these if you want it to. Also, on the left ear cup is the mic that’s retractable and flexible.

MICROPHONE:

Logitech G433

The mic is detachable and made of rubber type material. Also, the mic has micro pop filter on the end of the mic. The mic can be plugged easily to use.

Microphone quality is a definite highlight. The micro pop filter helps suppress the harshness of S and P sounds and chatting in discord was clean. The boom mic does a decent job of not picking up outside noises.

Steelseries Arctis 3

The mic is retractable and when you don’t want to use them it’s just out of the way. I men, the mic can just hide up in the headset. This type of mic design is new and something looking good.

It picks up very little background noise and sounds really good. The mic sounds really clear without sounding nasally or making it seem like I’m in the distance. The mic little too much emphasis on the S and P sounds. But, you can use it for any casual things like gaming, web chat etc,. For professional streamers, they have to use more good mic than this one.

SOUND:

Logitech G433

Now, you won’t get the same exact level of sonic fidelity with a G433 but they do sound impressive within the gaming headset space. I listen to a wide range of music genres and use lossless files to get the cleanest audio possible. Strong bass shines through even tapping into a little bit of the sub bass for real deep rattling notes. Without drowning out other frequencies, mids and highs come out clean but they tend to sound distorted up louder volumes.

When it comes to gaming, the G433 sounds just as good if not better than headsets in this price range. In battlefield one felt full and immersive with explosions going off, gunfire to my left and right, planes flying overhead and soldiers screaming commands across the trenches. Even out louder volumes all of these different sounds didn’t seem harsh or overbearing. Forza horizon 3 sounded great as well. Although we didn’t need detailed sound for tactical purposes, it was nice to hear the engines roar over its diverse soundtrack. This is what you should expect from a gaming headset that costs $100.

Through the USB DAC and Logitech gaming software, you can customize your EQ settings and activate DTS headphone X which is a solution for virtual 7.1 surround sound. Although, it gave battlefields a little bit more depth than a better sound-stage, audio felt a little hollow as if the events occurred in the concert hall rather than that of the battlefield.

Steelseries Arctis 3

The Arctis 3 have 40 millimeter drivers which deliver a rich sound that’s more natural than other gaming headsets which tend to boost the low-end. These have really nice lows but they aren’t the most bass heavy headset out there. If you’re looking for bass at the same price the Razer Kraken Pro V2 have a better low end but the bass here is tight and punchy and more inline with an accurate pair of headphones. Testing these with a wide range of music, the mids are very clean and detailed. Vocals and dialogue are clear without being drowned out.

The Arctis 3 handles highs really well too, delivering a nice bright sound without sounding harsh even at full blast. These have a nice wide sound-stage making it easy to pick out an enemy’s location. The Arctis 3 will also deliver simulated 7.1 channel surround sound when used on a PC, to do that you’ll need to use the SteelSeries Engine 3 software.

In the software, you get the ability to enable virtual surround sound. The surround here is good enough it’s all done through the software. You get a good sense of width in 3D space but you won’t miss the surround sound if you’re using this on a console. You get a 10 band EQ and a handful of presets and if you like more bass then the bass boost gives you a little bump in the low-end without sounding boomy. You also get some mic controls like compression, a noise gate, and noise reduction.

CONCLUSION:

Logitech G433

The design of the headset and the comfort is just impressive and good. The headset is just looks simple and good to use anywhere. The sound of the mic and the headset is also good.

While, it wouldn’t exactly be in audio files first choice, the G433 succeeds as a jack-of-all-trades. So, if you’re willing to spend a hundred dollars on a gaming headset this should be on your radar.

Steelseries Arctis 3

I highly recommend the Arctis 3. The build quality and design our top notch. They’re very lightweight and extremely comfortable, you really aren’t gonna find a headset more comfortable than this in my opinion and this sound fantastic. Although, keep in mind that these don’t even emphasize low end that you’ll find in other gaming headsets. The retractable mic sounds great and it’s out of the way when you’re not using it and you really can’t go wrong with this headset especially for the price.

If you’re gonna use these with a PC then it might be worth it to spend the extra money and get the Arctis 5 which adds a USB connection, DTS headphone X surround sound, and RGB lighting. If you’re gonna use this with the ps4 or Xbox one, then you can save the money and just go with the Arctis 3.
