INTRODUCTION:

Logitech MX Vertical Mouse

This MX vertical mouse is not that much new idea but it helps a lot and also, the comfort of this mouse is an advantageous one. The design and everything are placed like that way which will be comfortable for the user.

Evoluent Vertical Mouse

This Evoluent Vertical mouse is a perfect 90-degree angle mouse that is specially made for those people who have pain in the wrist and are caused by carpal tunnel syndrome. This will be more beneficial to them to use easily the mouse.

DESIGN & COMFORT:

Logitech MX Vertical Mouse

The idea of the vertical mouse isn’t exactly new, it’s only new to the Logitech MX lineup and if you’ve never used one of these before, the first thing that you’ll notice holding into the hand is its unique angular design. It looks a bit futuristic because it’s designed in a way that requires less hand movement from the user and Logitech determined that 57 degrees are the optimal angle for your hands to rest in order to reduce fatigue over prolonged use.

It has a really nice soft rubber material along the body that allows you to really grip and hug the mouse. It’s very natural very comfortable and it does attract a good amount of dust but it comes off easily with just a few finger swipes. Unfortunately, it’s only available for right-handed users.

One of the biggest benefits of owning an MX vertical over the Master 2S and probably the biggest selling point is comfort. Logitech really knew what they were doing when they designed this. You will never have near the stress and fatigue even if you these on 8 to 10 hours. In MX vertical, it caters to our natural resting hand position in relation to our wrists. So, if you were to relax your hand on a table, for example, you’ll notice how it naturally goes into this clamshell position, and using the MX vertical, it doesn’t change that too much. So, for anyone who is experiencing aches in your hand and wrist after prolonged mouse use, this is definitely a mouse that we could highly recommend.

Evoluent Vertical Mouse

The mouse comes in a normal, small, and large size as well and it’s important to pick the right one based on your hand size. It basically comes down to the hyper-aggressive design of the mouse that basically has your hand and wrist assuming near-perfect handshake position when you’re using the mouse. If you look at the angle of your wrist and forearm when holding the mouse, you’ll notice that is basically at a 90-degree angle relative to the surface of the desk. This minimizes any rotation of the wrist as you’re using the mouse.

Compare this to another vertical mouse, there’s a rotation of wrist about 15 degrees. So, this is why the Evoluent Mouse is so good for your wrist, it basically keeps it at a completely neutral position even compared to other vertical mouse with a less aggressive design.

The downside of the Evoluent Vertical Mouse is a comfort for some people because the perfect handshake position basically has you resting your wrist and forearm on this side, it’s not as comfortable as if you rotate your wrist even slightly where more of your wrist and forearm comes in contact with the desk surface. If you already have wrist pain that’s a small price to pay to basically prevent your condition from getting worse. However, if you’re just a normal user, it’s less of a convincing sell in my opinion.

FEATURES & PERFORMANCE:

Logitech MX Vertical Mouse

At first, you start using the mouse you will feel like a joystick, your muscle memory will be thrown off. The MX vertical retains the same great software features found in the previous MX lineup such as customizable buttons, button profiles, that change behavior depending on which application is open as well as Logitech’s flow feature that allows you to transfer files between two separate computers using the Logitech options software.

As for the hardware, we still get most of our buttons such as our forward and back navigation buttons, a single customizable button up top, as well as a clickable scroll wheel and you can customize and choose what all of these buttons do with the Logitech options software. There are a few features missing that used quite heavily before. So that single square button on the Master 2S is your mode shift button by default for their advanced adaptive scrolling feature that lets you switch between a ratchet click to click scroll and hyper-fast scrolling with the click of a button, and that just doesn’t exist with the MX vertical. We only get one type of scroll and that is the ratchet scrolling, so naturally, it’s gonna take you a little longer to scroll through long documents and webpages.

Another thing that I immediately noticed was I found myself attempting to click on the MX vertical by force habit only to realize it doesn’t click. I had that surface button configured to activate Mission Control on my Mac just because it felt most natural and so to compensate under MX vertical I instead mapped Mission Control to that button found up top and doing so, just feels very weird moving thumb up instead. Another button I took for granted was the side scroll wheel that’s nowhere to be found on MX Vertical. You can use this a lot when editing to quickly side scroll along the Final Cut Pro timeline. So, it definitely does change the editing experience quite a lot.

One of the things that you run into with this mouse a lot is accidental clicks. So, when using the forward and back navigation buttons since that does require a small amount of grip, oftentimes your fingertips on the opposite side would end up right-clicking and doing something you didn’t want to do. So, there’s a lot of compromises and adjusting that you’re gonna have to do if you’re coming from a standard mouse.

Evoluent Vertical Mouse

There is a mouse sensitivity rocker that lets you easily toggle the sensitivity of the mouse pointer. This is by far the best implementation of a dpi switch I’ve ever seen on a mouse. A LED bar shows you exactly how sensitive the mouse is right now on a scale. Also on the right side are three large buttons, the middle one is especially interesting.

To cushion your pinky finger as you maneuver the mouse, there is a protruding lip that is much appreciated. Unlike most mouse, there is a third center button that is surprisingly functional. By default, when you click it over links on a webpage, it automatically opens the link in a new tab in the background. It’s an awesome time-saver that now has been wishing that all mailes came with a customizable third button.

BATTERY:

Logitech MX Vertical Mouse

It’s also USB-C, so thankfully it’s keeping up with the times. Now, as far as battery life is concerned, Logitech usually does a pretty good job in this department. It’s rated for four months battery life on a full charge, so that’s one month extra over to Master 2S which is a plus and it’s obviously all going to depend on how much you use it.

It would have been nice to see battery percentage instead just for the measure but we do have the option to be notified when the battery’s running low. So, it’s equipped with a faster chargeable battery that gives you about three hours use from a one-minute charge which I mean that’s something you literally can’t even complain about and you also get a discreet LED on the mouse when you first turn it on, to indicate the remaining battery life with red meaning it’s time to recharge. You can always use it plugged in while it’s charging.

Evoluent Vertical Mouse

As this is a wired mouse, there are no problem of charging the mouse at all. There is no need to charging this mouse.

WHICH TO BUY?

The Evoluent Mouse is perhaps the best erogonomic mouse if you are at a high wrist pain or even carpal tunnel syndrome, no other mouse treat this well. In terms of its vertical form factor to protect your wrist. On the flip side, this means that this is not a mouse for everyone, for the average user that just wants to reduce his chances of developing wrist pain without sacrificing any comfort, I feel other vertical mice with a less radical design would be perhaps a better choice.

On the other hand, the Logitech MX Vertical Mouse doesn’t have things like side scroll and adaptive scroll wheel and a clickable surface, this is not a mouse aided so much for productivity but it’s more of a comfort mouse than anything else. The price is not that much different and considering the price, the wirelss one will be better to buy which is Logitech MX Vertical because the Evoluent Vertical Mouse is wired one.

The Logitech MX Ergonomic Mouse is unlike any mouse I’ve used before but I hope to see more like it in the future.

By Geeklingo.net
The Logitech MX Vertical is a great mouse if you spend most of your computer time coding or working on documents. Gamers may still prefer a traditional mouse design as they tend to be less bulky; this was just fine for our needs. After the initial adjustment period moving to the vertical form factor, our only real complaint was the lack of hyper-scrolling.

With a hefty price tag, this mouse wont be for everyone, but if you suffer from RSI, or any other sort of muscle issue due to mouse use, this mouse could be a cheaper option than GP visits and physio appointments.

By Techguide
The Logitech MX Vertical will change the way you use your mouse for the better. It does take some adjustment but the long term result for users who spent a lot of time on their computer will be high productivity but with less strain and fatigue.
