INTRODUCTION:
Razer DeathAdder V2
This is the current-gen mouse in the DeathAdder line up. There are many improvements and changes from the older versions. I think for the average cost of price, it offers many features and functions.
Razer DeathAdder Elite
The gaming community is always searching for the mouse that is equipped with an executed sensor and high DPI in order to respond quickly and effectively during your gameplay. I’m sure that one of the companies which first pops into your mind when someone talks about gaming peripherals is Razer. They have proven over the years that their peripherals, headphones, or keyboards always look aggressive like every gamer would like to see, the quality is always their top priority. This is about a Death Adder Elite which is an extremely responsive eSports gaming mouse that shines with its design and capabilities.
DESIGN & COMFORT:
Razer DeathAdder V2
The DeathAdder V2 brings the classic DeathAdder shape to the level of Razer’s other current-gen mice. If you’re familiar with the major changes we saw introduced with the Viper, then you should have a pretty good reasonable idea of what to expect herewith. One or two variations to accommodate for the DeathAdder design. First of all the shape is largely the same, it still got the great right-handed ergo design that made it one of the most popular mice in the game but this time Razer has slimmed it down a little bit making it just under 9 millimeters slimmer in width and 1.3 millimeters shorter in height.
The DeathAdder V2 dimensions are 127 millimeters long by 61.7 millimeters wide, and 42.7 millimeters in height, that’s also the lightest DeathAdder yet at just 82 grams. Now, a lot of these dimension changes may not really seem like that big of a deal on paper but for those of you that have been longtime DeathAdder users and you’re really used to that classic shape, you might notice a bit of a difference here particularly in the width.
Now, for me personally, this is actually a pretty welcome change, I love the ergo shape of the DeathAdder and I thought the Elite was a good release but I think when really trying to elevate this mouse to the level of Razer’s other current-gen mice and considering the trend of mice in the market trying to go with more lightweight dynamic mice, I think just kind of tailoring these specs a little bit to make this mouse shape a little bit more relevant is actually really smart by Razer.
It’s still an ideal choice for palm grip users because they didn’t change the overall length. It’s still a really good candidate for claw grip users too. I personally go with a little bit of a modified fingertip grip and the new dimensions on the DeathAdder actually make it very possible to do that with this mouse too. Overall I’d say, it’s the most versatile right-handed mouse in terms of grip style that Razer offers right now. Overall construction feels really good even though it’s the lightest DeathAdder yet, there’s no creaking or flex when squeezing on the mouse frame. There is a little bit of wobble on the mouse but it’s pretty minor and it is to be expected on longer styles of mouse button like these.
The new addition is the slightly textured sweat-resistant matte finish of the Viper and the ultimate variance is now on the DeathAdder. It feels nice on the hands and provides a good grippy feel and I also really liked that they changed the rubber grips on the sides of the mouse to be the smaller crisscross pattern that we see on those current-gen mice as well. Aesthetically, I’m not super thrilled with the new glossy plastic that’s under the scroll wheel because it’s just a fingerprint magnet and it can look pretty dirty rather quickly. It’s very similar to the glossy bits on the Basilisk Ultimate which I also had similar concerns about.
Razer DeathAdder Elite
From a design perspective, the DeathAdder Elite measures 5 inches in length, 2.76 inches in width, 1.73 inches in height with an approximate weight of 105 grams.
The mouse is ergonomically contoured on both sides, with the intention to naturally fit the shape of your right hand. While on the bottom left, there is a rubber side grip that is placed there to serve as a rest for your thumb. The only remark to have for the mouse is that it was not meant for left-handed people, so if you belong to this group of people it won’t really like it but for right-handed, it is perfect.
Regardless of how long you’ve been gaming, there won’t be any sign of fatigue due to the ergonomic design that will easily suit even those people that have big hands. While on the other side, it won’t sleep off your hand even if your hand is sweaty.
FEATURES:
Razer DeathAdder V2
The DeathAdder V2 is advertised as an 8 button mouse, while that’s true that’s including the profile button on the underside of the mouse for switching profiles. So realistically, it’s more of a 7 button mouse functional. Mouse 1 and 2 have the contoured finger grooves that are typical of the DeathAdder shape and they feel just as nice as always.
The new change here is that mouse 1 and 2 have Racers optical mouse switches in them for a 70 million click lifespan and this is a huge upgrade for the DeathAdder in particular. As I’ve personally had two different DeathAdder get the dreaded double click issue over a couple of years. The new optical switches completely eliminate this problem because as I’m sure you people are aware of by now. The optical switches use light to actuate the keystrokes instead of actual physical-mechanical contact points, that can corrode and degrade over time which ultimately leads to that dreaded double click issue.
The mouse 4 & 5 still have those nice big side buttons that have always been one of my favorite parts of the DeathAdder design and these buttons feel mostly the same as before. The scroll wheel has been refined to have a distinct notch scrolling at a lower resistance. The scroll wheel here feels good and the click is nice and crisp as well. Behind the scroll wheel are two dpi buttons by default which can be mapped to other functions too.
Like all Razer peripherals these days the V2 does have full Razer chroma integration with an RGB enabled scroll wheel and the triple-headed snake logo in the grip. Also, kind of interesting is the lighting here is noticeably brighter on this variation of the DeathAdder than previous versions.
Now, the feet and the cable upgrade are really good enhancements to this mouse and while the cable isn’t quite as good as a true paracord, it’s still a big step up from their old previous braided cables but I do still recommend using a mouse bungee with this one.
Razer DeathAdder Elite
There are two small programmable buttons that are placed below the scroll wheel on top of the mouse and they work for custom actions such as back and forward. They are strategically placed and have the right distance from the grip for ensuring that you won’t click on them accidentally. The mouse overall features a low profile that is composed of a matte plastic surface is feels really soft and comfortable underneath your hand, while the other side, these color-switching capabilities will surely upgrade your gaming.
The left and the right click buttons feature grooves which will allow you to relax your fingers on one side, while on the other, it helps you respond quickly during your most dynamic and intense gaming moments. Razer claims that this model’s mechanical switches are durable enough to last up to 50 million clicks, so that’s fantastic indeed. The DeathAdder Elite is a really eye-catching mouse like the scrolling wheel and the Razer logo is both illuminated and you will be given an option to customize lighting colors from more than 16.8 colors by using the Razer Synapse configuration software. A really interesting thing about the scrolling wheel except for the shining part is that Razer made it a bit more of a tactile instead of an ordinary wheel.
The DeathAdder Elite is not a wireless mouse nor a wireless option but usually, the word gaming mice perform better. Its gold plated USB connector will boast a high level of durability and a better context since gold cannot oxidize, so from that perspective, you’ll be more secure but nothing more than that. The cable that holds this gold plated USB connector is made of braided fiber and it’s about 7 inches long. So that’s more than enough length for having a distraction-free gaming time.
The Death Adder Elite features an ultra polling rate of up to thousand Hertz and acceleration of 50G where G stands for gravity and non-cramps and those two things combined make it one of a kind and one of the best gaming mice in the market. The G acceleration means that regardless if you move the mouse at fast or slow speeds, it will always respond onscreen with unreal accuracy. Overall, you should definitely take the data thoroughly into consideration due to its incredible speed, and it’s a reasonable price.
PERFORMANCE:
Razer DeathAdder V2
Another really big upgrade to the DeathAdder V2 is the inclusion of Razer’s new Focus Plus optical sensor. Now, this is the same high-end sensor that you’re going to see in the Viper Ultimate or the Basilisk Ultimate, so you’re getting Razer’s top-of-the-line sensor here. This is a 20,000 DPI sensor with 99.7% accuracy as well as all the new smart features that this sensor includes and these new intelligent functions include smart tracking. Now, this does away with the need to manually calibrate the mouse to each new surface you play on. So, smart tracking can automatically calibrate itself across different mouse surfaces ensuring that your liftoff distance and accuracy remain consistent.
There’s a symmetric cutoff that allows you to set the distance at which the mouse starts tracking again after picking it up or basically just configuring your landing distance. We have motion sync, now you could think of this as essentially G sync for your mouse. Basically, it aligns your mouse signal intervals to the same rate that the PC extracts information from the sensor for maximum responsiveness.
On the underside of the mouse, Razer’s new PTFE feet and speed flex cable also making an appearance for some more quality enhancements and by now, I think it’s safe to assume that Razer gonna be standardizing these features on all of their mice which is a really smart move for them as they really do bring a good step up in quality.
In terms of performance, I found my hand adapting to the DeathAdder shape from the Viper remarkably well. It’s like going home after a long vacation and it all just sort of fell into place. The lighter design is noticeably snappier when playing FPS games, while the ergo shape leaves it feeling plenty comfortable during those long gaming and editing sessions. The new switches and focus plus optical sensor gave me comparable performance to Viper ultimate minus the obvious wireless and weight differences of course but overall, the DeathAdder V2 is a very solid performer.
Razer DeathAdder Elite
On the bottom of the mouse, there is a sensor with a dpi sensitivity that ranges from 100 to 16,000 DPI, making it a true gaming mouse. In addition, the two oversized Teflon feet are placed at the bottom part or more precisely above and below the optical sensor and they will help you achieve a faster swipe rate when you have a mouse pad placed underneath.
From a performance of feature perspective, the DeathAdder Elite is incredibly accurate because it has a resolution accuracy of up to 99.4%, so you can easily eliminate all of your targets and be a serious player in any game you wish to play. The Elite mechanical switches are extremely responsive and you will love playing FPS games such as CS: GO, PUBG, Overwatch, and more, where the first response time is a key for success. This model will be of huge help if you’re playing strategic games such as League of Legends, Starcraft, and every series of total war, where most of the time you’ll have to use a mouse since the keyboard will only serve as a support for using the controls.
With this mouse, the chances of winning are always high because of its advanced optical sensor and its mechanical mass switches which will deliver on real responsiveness that translates into an amazing gaming experience.
SOFTWARE:
Razer DeathAdder V2
In Razer synapse, you could bind the second set of seven alternative key binds to your mouse with Razer’s hyper shift. You can save up to four profiles directly onto the mouse’s memory.
In the Razer’s Synapse software, you can also customize the RGB lighting of this mouse. If you’re an RGB lover, this software will give you many decent options.
Razer DeathAdder Elite
You can take advantage of the synapse 2.0 and adjust the overall mouse based on your preferences. To be more precise, you can adjust the RGB lightning, calibrate the mouse to suit different surfaces, adjust the DPI, and much more. The software as a whole is really intuitive and you won’t deal with any orientation problems since every tab will inform you what it is about.
There are eight lightning modes such as a spectrum cycling, breathing, static, reactive, wave, starlight, ripple, fire and each of them is unique. For example, the spectrum cycling mode will cycle through all colors and display each of them, while the breathing mode fades in and out one or two colors at most which you previously have to choose them. In addition, the static as the name says will only choose one color and it will stay on that color, while the reactive mode is going to display all the LEDs upon most active occasion and it will stay lit in either short, medium, or long mode before it finally fades away.
WHICH TO BUY?
In my opinion, the Razer DeathAdder V2 will be better than the DeathAdder Elite. There will be always good to go for upgraded things and DeathAdder V2 has upgraded changes and some improvements in features. Also, the price gap is not that much high.
