Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Samsung Galaxy Buds

The Samsung Galaxy Buds are retailing for the price tag of $130. These are one of the most comfortable earbuds with the minimalistic looks in the market. These earbuds work pretty well at their price range.

Realme Buds Air Neo

The Realme Buds Air Neo is mostly like the Realme Buds Air. The only thing that makes these different from each other is some of their features. These earbuds are one of the budget-friendly earbuds available in the market. These are retailing for around fifty dollars currently.

DESIGN:

Samsung Galaxy Buds

The case is coming at around two and a half inches long and one inch thick which makes this extremely portable. This case can be actually placed in the smaller pocket of your jeans itself and it fits perfectly. The case has a lid with a strong magnetic clasp, which will keep the buds protected. The earbuds themselves click into the case but they will fall out if the case is open and upside down.

The Galaxy Buds are rated at an IPX2 water resistance which literally equates to them being protected from dripping water when rotated at a 15-degree angle from a vertical stance for 10 minutes. In other words, a little sweat and a little bit of water won’t destroy these but you must keep them away from water when possible.

Realme Buds Air Neo

These earphones are looking great and I like them in terms of design. Realme Buds Air Neo and Realme Buds Air are exactly the same only a few differences are there in them and they look like Apple Airpods too. We have white, red, and green color options on the Realme Buds Neo. These have the square case with round edges and glossy finish, which makes it a cute little package. The excess is from the top which you can flip and it has a very satisfying feel to it. You can easily open up the case even by only one hand also.

These earbuds have magnetic pins, so these snap into place properly. On the Realme Buds Air Neo, we have the Apple Airpods like ear tips and they are made of plastic. Overall, in terms of design, I like the Realme Buds Air Neo as they are much more convenient to use but not for the ear tip. So, considering the build quality and design these earphones are well-designed earphones. These are a solid-feeling device like the Realme Buds Air. The Realme Buds Air Neo has an IPX4 rating. If you wish to take these to the gym it shouldn’t be a problem because these are sweatproof.

COMFORT:

Samsung Galaxy Buds

The Galaxy Buds are quite small and have a great fit in the ear. They stay in the ears no matter what activity you are doing. If the buds begin to feel uncomfortable in your ears, you can swap out the ear tips and wingtips and change them as you want as per your size. In terms of comfort, I really love these earbuds. They do have a small minimalistic size which makes them fit into the ears perfectly without any ear fatigue.

Realme Buds Air Neo

The Realme Buds Air Neo has the Apple Airpods like ear tips, which are very comfortable as they don’t go much deeper into your ear canals. It makes them very comfortable if you want to wear them all day long. But there are some problems with this design. They will not fit every ear, so you need to try this before buying because if it doesn’t fit then it’s going to fall out every now or then. Then there is also no proper seal, which results in poor bass and overall poor sound quality.

FEATURES:

Samsung Galaxy Buds

Other earbuds on the market also have good form factor, battery life, and sound quality but what sets these apart is the ease of use and convenience the Galaxy Buds provide. When turning on the earbuds, there are no buttons to press. Simply open the case and you’re good to go, this works seamlessly with both Android and iOS devices which is a great thing to see. When placing the earbuds back in the charging case and closing it, the earbuds will automatically turn off and disconnect from your device.

The touch controls work as intended. Although your touches must be precise, for the desired result. A single tap pauses and play, double-tap skips a track, and a triple tap reverses a track. Holding down on the left earbud activates quick ambient sound, which turns down the volume significantly in order to hear someone or something. Holding down the right earbud opens a voice assistant, which can be configured to the voice assistant of your choice. If you have an Android device you can customize the hold-down options and swap them out for volume up and down. You can also lock the touch controls altogether if you’d like. This is an awesome feature because when doing certain activities you may accidentally hit a touchpad control that you didn’t want. The iPhone users will only be able to use tap functions and hold-down for voice assistant and you will have to adjust the volume from your device itself.

The ease of use of amongst devices makes these earbuds future-proof for consumers as switching phones will not affect the amount of usability these provide. Any Android device running Android 5.0 or higher can download the Samsung Wearable app and take advantage of the additional software features. Also, syncing up and using these earbuds on iOS devices is just as quick and responsive as Android.

The phone calls sound fine. On my phone call, I asked the person on the other end if they could hear me fine and they said they could hear me properly and I could hear them sufficiently as well. The Bluetooth range is subpar. When going into other rooms or up or down a flight of steps away from your device, you will definitely experience cutouts or spotty playback. Keep your device close by for the best results.

Realme Buds Air Neo

In these earphones, you are getting Bluetooth 5.0 with fast paring, which means these earbuds will connect instantaneously with the devices. You will also get a pop-up notification on your Realme devices as you see on Apple devices. You are also getting the Realme Link app with these. In the app, you can see the battery of the device, you can also change the touch controls, what they do, and also update the firmware there. Along with this, you are also getting the R1 Chip on the Real Buds Air Neo.

These earbuds can also connect to a dual-channel transmission or binaural simultaneous connection. You will also face fewer connection issues with these earbuds. There is a low latency mode on the Realme Buds Air Neo. I tested out the lag latency in these earbuds with the low latency mode on. What does it mean is, is there any time gap between what we hear and what we see. There was no much lag with these. The low latency mode works really well. But the latency level may vary from devices to devices like if you use this with the Realme device there may more low latency than with the other devices.

There are certain things that make these differ from the Realme Buds Air. The Realme Buds Air has the Weared detection which means the device will automatically pause the song when you take either of the earbuds out and plays the song automatically when you put it back but this feature is not available on the Realme Buds Air Neo. The other difference between the Realme Buds Air Neo and the Realme Buds Air is the Buds Air Neo is IPX4 rated but Buds Air doesn’t have an IPX rating and Buds Air has wireless charging which the Buds Air Neo doesn’t have.

BATTERY AND ITS LIFE:

Samsung Galaxy Buds

The battery in my test of running these earbuds at max volume on Spotify, the right earbud died at 5 hours and 36 minutes and the left earbud died at 5 hours and 49 minutes. When you run low on battery, you will get a subtle beep in your ear. Some products will lower the volume when the battery runs low but these will continue to play at max volume regardless. The case will provide an additional seven hours of listening time for the buds. The buds can be charged quickly, after 15 minutes of charging were back up to 30% and after 37 minutes of charging were back up to 75%. If you are a heavy user, these buds will certainly get you through the day.

The earbuds are charged through the case and the case can be charged wirelessly or with the use of a USB-C cable. You can also able to wirelessly charge these on a vertically standing charger intended for smartphones. To check the battery life of the case simply close the case without the buds inside of it, green means 60% plus battery, yellow means 30 to 60% battery, and red means it’s time to charge the case. A red light on the inside of the case indicates that the buds are charging, a green light indicates that the buds are charged, if you have the buds in the case and charge the case at the same time, a red light will appear on the case.

Realme Buds Air Neo

For charging, we have a micro USB port on the Air Buds Neo. We have 400 milliamp power on the case and 43 milliamp power on each earbud. You can charge the case in one and a half hours and then you will get around three hours of playback on the earbuds and in total, with the case you will get around 17 hours. For me, it worked for almost 3 hours for the earbuds and an additional 13 hours from the case, so in total it’s around 16 hours.

SOUND:

Samsung Galaxy Buds

The overall sound presentation of the earbuds is good. The EQ settings on the Galaxy Wearable app makes a noticeable difference. After playing around with it I found the dynamic setting to be really good. The Dolby Atmos makes a very noticeable difference in the experience with the buds. The iOS users will be unable to tap into the Galaxy Wearable EQ configurations and Dolby Atmos benefits but the experience was still good enough in my testing.

It’s one of those scenarios, where you wouldn’t notice a difference unless doing an in-depth side-by-side analysis. The base for a lack of better terms is acceptable. It’s not great but it’s not bad either. With the volume high on a bass-heavy song, I can feel a subtle rattle from the buds. To ensure you are getting the most out of the experience, push down the earbuds slightly on your ears this will drive the earbuds further into your ears.

Realme Buds Air Neo

The Realme Buds Air Neo has a 13-millimeter driver. Because these earbuds have Apple-like ear tips they do not create a proper seal which results in poor isolation leading to poor bass response and overall sound quality. Also, you have to turn the earphones much louder than what you normally listen to so that you could get better sound quality. For me, I don’t like these ear tips at all because the sound quality comes so thin through that and there is no bass at all. If you are traveling, forget the point of using these. They are only usable if you are in a quiet environment. If you are comparing the sound quality of the Buds Air Neo and Buds Air, Buds Air Neo is slightly louder and has a little more bass but still, it’s nowhere near to enjoyable experience.

WHICH TO BUY?

In my opinion, the Samsung Galaxy Buds is good to buy than the Realme Buds Air Neo. Even though the price of Galaxy Buds is more than the Realme Buds Air Neo, the Galaxy Buds give better comfort and better sound than the Realme Buds Air Neo.

There is no physical button on these earbuds and users get gesture support for the actions they want to perform. For instance, a double tap answers a call and a triple tap skips to the next song – all of which worked without any hiccups. But it took some time to get used to it.
