Detail Review
INTRODUCTION:
Samsung Galaxy Tab S6
This is one of the popular and best Android tablets in this period of time. This also provides all features like the laptop, this is also a good alternative against the laptop. This has some excellent features which make the great feel to use this tablet.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e
This is the predecessor model of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 and it has almost every feature that Tab S6 had. This doesn’t have the set of accessories that come with Tab S6 but you can get a different keyboard to use with it.
DESIGN & DISPLAY:
Samsung Galaxy Tab S6
It comes in three different colors, cloud blue, rose blush, and mountain gray. You get two speakers and a microphone on the left side. On the right side are two more speakers, they’re AKG branded and they sound fantastic. There is a USB-C port that will duty to charge and display out. On the top of the device is your micro SD card reader, another microphone- you get dual-array microphones on this device, and a volume rocker up and down as well as your power button. On the bottom is the keyboard connector ports.
Without a doubt, the star of the show has to be its display. This is a 10.5 inch Super AMOLED display resolution of 2560 by 1600, a 16:10 aspect ratio, that’s 288 pixels per inch and it’s got to be one of the brightest displays on the market at 645 nits. This is excellent for both indoor and outdoor use. It’s a nice 10-inch display, excellent for watching high dynamic range content, really deep lacks, very vibrant colors which are the hallmarks of course of a Super AMOLED display.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e
I really like the thin metal unibody on this device. It’s super thin and it’s very light. It feels pretty sturdy overall and really kind of feels premium for this money like you don’t expect to get a tablet this premium feel for around $399. It’s just overall pretty clean design. It’s a standard looking slate from the front but at the same time, the body itself is super thin and light. It’s got a pretty solid design. Because of its thinness, it might be easy to drop, so make sure you get something to cover this thing.
When it comes to the display for this device, it’s a super AMOLED display 2500 by 1600. So, this is a really high density for a tablet. We have actually 288 PPI and because it’s a Super AMOLED display, you can put it in the adaptive display mode and this thing gets supersaturated. This is the reason to buy this tablet. I don’t know if there’s any at this price point you can buy with this beauty of a display and it’s not an exaggeration, I think this display looks better than any iPad that’s currently on the market. With the 16 by 10 aspect ratio, it’s a very widescreen. So, it’s like holding a movie theater in your hand. It’s a very wide screen, so black bars are a lot less prevalent on this tablet than an iPad with a 4:3 aspect ratio.
One element of the display that I didn’t like too much is that it’s really tall when you hold it in portrait mode, so I don’t think it does the best job here. So, I think the iPads 4:3 does better when it comes to the portrait mode but in a landscape, it’s like a beautiful widescreen TV in your hand with the Galaxy Tab S5e. So, overall if you’re gonna buy this tablet for any reason, the main reason should be the display. You can change it out of that super over vibrant color if you don’t like it, just go to screen mode, take it down to basic or AMOLED cinema or photo, it’ll be a lot less vibrant but still looks excellent.
SPECIFICATIONS & PERFORMANCE:
Samsung Galaxy Tab S6
The Tab S6 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and although this is not the latest processor at this point, it’s still one of the best out there and when it comes to the benchmarks, you can see the numbers did really well, especially when you compare it to some of the competition. It handled productivity tasks very well such as Microsoft Office, email, web browsing, handled it with a breeze. You could also do video editing on this, it’s powerful enough to definitely do that as well. Now, as far as media consumption, watching Netflix, YouTube, everything worked well and gaming worked really well, everything on the highest settings which are really smooth and very playable frame rates. It’s running Android 9.0 pie and the Samsung’s One UI and the One UI work really well, very optimized for this tablet, smooth transitions, no lag and that’s what you want to see definitely with the skin. It’s definitely better than the old days when we have the TouchWiz which is very bloated and very heavy in terms of skin.
It uses face recognition to log into the device and I thought, for the most part, it worked really well. This is some of the best cameras will ever find on a tablet and I think Samsung did an outstanding job when it comes to both the front-facing camera and the rear camera on this because I think they produce some excellent images. It does 4k video 30 frames per second and I thought the image quality for a tablet was excellent and I thought the image stabilization was actually pretty good as well.
The Tab S6 has quad speakers on it. They sound really good which is AKG tune. I think they get really loud, they fill up a room rather nicely. There’s bass, the mids are good, they did an outstanding job on these speakers.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e
When it comes to the software, this tablet is running Android 9 pie as well as the One UI 1.1 over the top. It’s got the night mode, it’s got the Samsung features you’re used to from your Galaxy phone, so not much is different in the way of that. One thing it does do that’s very productive, it allows you to do pop view apps that’s a Samsung feature which is pretty awesome. I mean you can do multitasking on the same screen at the same time. In the pop view, you can open many apps like the PC. The amount of productivity you can do on this tablet with this widescreen is actually quite functional.
The icons are the skwerkel icons like on the Galaxy S10, you have the theme stores, you have widgets, you have it all. I mean, this is an Android tablet with mostly a Samsung experience layered on top of it and if you’ve had a Galaxy phone, you’ll feel like you got the same thing just in a big blown-up form of that.
I’m not overly impressed with the snapdragon 670 but I’m not like disappointed either as it runs it just fine. It does some choppy frames sometimes, some choppy animation but it’s not lag. This tablet doesn’t lag too much. You’re not gonna have a problem using it. So, it’s not gonna interrupt your workflow or your video watching or whatever you’re gonna be doing with this tablet but at the same time, it’s not gonna be like super promotion smooth like the iPad.
I did play a couple of games on this tablet, nothing too graphically intensive and it ran like a champ which is just fine. I think it’s got like an adrenal 615 GPU, so I think for casual games should be fine. The top graphically intensive games on the market might run into some stutters. Performance overall, if you’re looking for a top-level performing tablet, this one is not for you but definitely is gonna be great if you just need some decent average performance.
If there was another reason alone to buy this tablet, it’s definitely been the audio experience. Now, four speakers with Dolby Atmos on here tuned by AKG for sound, they sound incredible for this money. I mean, the budget iPads don’t give you four speakers at the budget range iPad. They just sound incredible, they’re very full, very rich and I think that you’ll be very happy with the four-way speakers on this tablet but I don’t think you’re gonna be happy with the fact that they add the headphone jack.
You have basically the same camera setup as you have on the Galaxy S10 or any of the new One UI Phones, it kinda has that same software on board. You do have life focused on promotes, panorama, a video hyper-lapse. The front camera is not super sharp, it’s got that like Beauty effect on there, not bad we’re not getting amazing detail. The detail is pretty good, it’s not an amazing camera but it’s just a solid camera for a tablet.
You have face lock as well as the secure method of unlocking this tablet is you go ahead and you place your finger on the side and it unlocks just like a fingerprint scanner. It looks exactly like the Galaxy S10e and it’s a good thing because it works well and I also like this tablet it has double-tap to wake as well as face scanning.
ACCESSORIES:
Samsung Galaxy Tab S6
Now, the keyboard cover is a must-have purchase and the reason is that if you’re going to do productivity work with this, especially with Dex mode on this, you’re gonna want to use this to get work done and the keyboard certainly helps you to do that. It’s become a part of this device. Now, using it without it is still good but if you want to get productivity work done by the keyboard but it’s not cheap. If you want to get work done, this is the way to go. It does stick on the back of the tablet. The magnetic connection has been pretty strong, I haven’t really had any issues.
The kickstand has a pretty sturdy hinge that’s held up really well over the time. It has not loosened in any way, it’s actually retained its rigidity and that’s pretty good. I like the fact that this keyboard cover does have an integrated touchpad, that’s something different than last year’s model. I love the fact that there’s a slot for the pen, so you can recharge it while it’s in the case that’s a clever design.
When it comes to the s-pen, you looking at 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity uses the Wacom EMR technology. It does use Bluetooth technology, so you can take selfies with it. A lot of improvements with that S Pen. Because of that pressure sensitivity and great palm rejection, sketching or artwork or taking notes worked really well with the Tab S6.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e
You can get Samsung’s keyboard dock or you can get a separate case. It would be nice to have an S Pen but there’s no active S Pen stylus built into this tablet. You can get a third-party stylus but no S-Pen stylus, but still you can get a lot done with this software.
BATTERY:
Samsung Galaxy Tab S6
This has a 7040 milliamp-hour battery and on my continuous web-surfing test over Wi-Fi, I did 10 hours and 46 minutes which was very good. Although it was outpaced by the iPad Air 2019, again 10 hours and 46 minutes mean you’re going to get all-day use out of this but your mileage may vary depending on what you do with this device. This is a really good battery life is what I’ve seen so far for the past. Now, if you do need to plug in, they do supply you with a fast adaptive charger in the box. It takes about two-and-a-half hours for a full charge.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e
What the tablet does have is some pretty great battery life. Samsung rates at 15 video playback, I was getting around 13 hours on this tablet and about 11 hours in mixed usage. So, if we got a battery, one thing I do like about this tablet is that you can see the percentage easily but going the battery percentage is into power mode, maximum power saving modes. On Samsung, you actually still have those power modes just like on your Galaxy phone. The battery life over on this tablet, I think will not disappoint whatsoever. One thing you’ll really like is how this tablet fast charges. It gives very quick charging with the adaptive fast charging in the box.
WHICH TO BUY?
If you want the best Android tablet on the market, Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 is the number one Android tablet. Basically, you’re looking at a stunning Super AMOLED display, the improved keyboard cover in my opinion although there are some issues with it and it’s a bit cramped but overall I think they did a good job. There are a good performance out of that snapdragon 855, very powerful speakers out of those quad speakers that are AKG tune, 10 plus hours of battery life, integrated s-pen charging, excellent cameras make this a winner. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e represents remarkable value, especially because of the display, USB-C, quad speakers, super thin design, and nowhere even near the $1,000 price tag, this thing is less than $500. For this money, you really can’t do much better than buying this tablet.
If you want a good set of Android tablet which can also be used as a laptop, then Tab S6 is the best one. Otherwise, you just want a tablet with some good features and for casual use, then Tab S5e is the good value tablet.
