Expert Review of Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2:

By The Verge
Their premium price (and, for some, the touch controls) mean they won’t be for everyone. But if you’re after a pair of truly wireless earbuds that come close to matching the quality of a premium pair of noise-canceling over-ear headphones, then Sennheiser’s Momentum True Wireless 2 are easy to recommend.

By TrustedReviews
While its previous true wireless was a solid pair, Sennheiser gets it right at the second attempt. While ANC is rather light, paired with a good fit and volume control and they keep away a good deal of noise. The real star is the audio quality: expressive, lush, and enjoyable, the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 are one of the best pairs on the market.

By Engadget
Sennheiser’s second-generation true wireless earbuds not only have extended battery life and active noise cancellation, but they’re also more pleasant to use. The touch controls are a lot more reliable this time around and the company kept the customization that allows you to fine-tune settings. The only unfortunate thing here is the price.

By cnet
The second-generation Momentum True Wireless 2 still has that elevated $300 price. But they’re better all around, with a slightly smaller, more comfortable design, active noise canceling that rivals that of the AirPod Pro, improved battery life (up to seven hours versus the original’s four), and better noise reduction during calls. That makes them arguably the best true wireless earbuds on the market today.

By What Hi-Fi?
These Sennheisers are more comfortable and nicer to use than their predecessors, battery life is better and noise-canceling is now included as part of the package. They’re easy to live with and you could happily listen to them for hours on end without reaching for the pause button. If your budget allows, your ears will be handsomely rewarded.

Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2

These are the successor of the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 1. The sound on the Momentum 1 was really dope. It was just the whole fit that I couldn’t get down with this product. These are retailing at a very high price point for $300.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus

The price of these is one hundred and fifty Dollars. The Galaxy Buds are for $100 while Galaxy Buds Plus is for $150. This is a great upgrade version of the original Galaxy Buds.

BUILD QUALITY AND DESIGN:

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2

It does have smart pause, customized touch controls, voice assistant access, and active noise cancellation. Sound with the smart control app enjoys superior sound speech, optimized calls, voice assistant, and block out or listen to your surroundings. It is IPX4 rated so it is splash resistant and sweat resistant. It is Qualcomm AptX and also you do control everything with the Sennheiser smart control app available in the app store or the google play store.

These earbuds do come in two different colors, you have your black version and then you also have your white version. I have a white one. The white earbuds have a nice colored charging case. Instead of gray and like black it’s more gray and brown which is nice. The lid on this case is magnetic, so you don’t have to worry about it open it up. On the backside, you have your USB type-c charging port and then you also have a button that lights up the indicator light that tells you how much battery is left in the charging case.

One thing on which I am disappointed is for $300, this should be a wirelessly charging case but they just refuse to put wireless charging capability inside here. Overall it’s a nice looking case, I do like the canvas feel on the outside. I might be prone to get a little bit dirty and not be able to clean but it does mitigate any type of scratches or anything that could be seen on like a hard plastic surface.

You also have touch surfaces on the earbuds they’re not physical buttons, which can all be customized inside the app. Then on the inside right next to the charging points, you do have your automatic shut off sensor so if you listen to music you take one earbud out the music will shut off and vice versa. You can listen to these earbuds one at a time while the other ones in the charging case which is always a nice feature but they are not independent. Then you do have your microphone holes located towards the bottom side of the earbuds. It is all plastic design other than the touch surfaces, I do think that those are some type of metal right there.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus

For color choices with the Galaxy Buds Plus, you get black, white, and blue. They’re IPX2 sweat and water-resistant, and they feature wireless charging. There are two more upgrades, with the original Galaxy Buds you have one speaker while with the Galaxy Buds Plus you have two speakers, and the speaker’s 40% larger, so theoretically the new one should sound a lot better. The last upgrade here is the mics. With the original Galaxy Buds, you got two mics while with the Galaxy Buds Plus you have three mics. So, this is going to give you better phone call quality and increased ambient sound mode, so it should sound better theoretically again.

It has a nice glossy case and actually has a little bit shine to the earbuds too. You get your left and right marks inside the case which actually look like buttons but it’s not. we will see left and right Brandon. You have wireless charging at the bottom of the case and USB type-c charging on the back of the case. In the front of the case, its mentioned as Samsung tuned by AKG. The case is a little bit more glossy than the originals.

COMFORT:

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2

When I took these earbuds out of the case and it’s something that they did improve on I noticed that it is a smaller circumference when it comes to these earbuds. I think that they might be a little bit longer but they’ve also made the circumference smaller so that, when you do put them in your ears, they might stick out a little bit. On the flip side, it’s a better fit inside of your ear, due to the fact that it has a smaller circumference and I do like this fit a lot better than the Momentum version 1 in my opinion.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus

As far as the size of the buds it almost looks the same as the Original Galaxy Buds. It fits perfectly in the ears. I tested out how long it stays fit in the ears by shaking my head to the maximum level. It stayed perfectly without moving or falling out from the ears.

You also get some extra pair of ear tips and ear wings, so you can choose your right one as per your comfort level. Definitely you will get your perfect fit with the use of extra ear tips and ear wings available. You can use this during your jogging and workouts, it stays perfectly and it is also IPX rated so its sweat resistant too. So, you can definitely use this during your workouts.

FEATURES:

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2

Inside of this box, you do have your earbuds at the top, your charging case in the middle, and then you have a bunch of manuals. You do have three replacement ear tips, so along with that one in the earbuds themselves four replacement ear tips in total. Then you also have your USB type-c charging cable.

You need to download the Sennheiser smart control app and then once you’re inside the Sennheiser smart control app, you just have to follow the steps that it gives you to actually hook these up to your mobile device. If you don’t have your actual earbuds that pop up on here, update your firmware. There are some extra features that you’ll get when you do update your firmware. On there you have your three lines at the top left it gives you different options up there device app settings, help, feedback and you have the gear icon up at the top right.

You do have different features inside there that you can customize and then also do a full factory reset. You have your transparent hearing down below, if you click on that this is where you can turn transparent hearing on and off and then also you can keep the music playing while you’re doing that.

You also have an equalizer right there and what I notice about this equalizer is that there are no presets, you have to set everything in there, which is your own custom preset. I would have liked to see Sennheiser actually made their own little presets for people to choose and then maybe make a little bit better. You can see this little circle or ball there moving, you can adjust to actually wherever you want it to be dependent on what you like your sound to be.

If you do click on the image there in the middle of the screen, you can open up the earbuds control, and then you can also customize these to whatever you want to. Hit that pencil mark and then you tap the icon that you want to change and then you can go and change whatever you want to set, the single tap to for the left and the right and the double-tap and then so on. You can change all of that to exactly how you want it and you can also disable the touch controls at the bottom. That’s pretty much it for everything that is involved inside the app.

I tested out latency with YouTube, Netflix, Disney plus, Apple TV plus, Amazon prime video, I tested out all of them and there were no latency issues with any of those platforms. Sennheiser does and has always done a good job with eliminating as much latency as possible.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus

Inside the box you gonna get your usual manuals, your USB type-c charging cable, you get some different sized ear tips and wings that’s pretty much it and your earbuds with the case. For the pairing process real simple just like a set of Airpods, you open up the charging case they’ll automatically connect to your phone. It shows you the battery percentage from the buds but it also shows you the battery percentage from the charging case which doesn’t show from the originals.

Inside the app, you can do all your presets regarding the ambient sound mode and you also have your EQ settings. You can actually adjust the EQ as you want. You also have the find my bud option there, in case if you lose your earbud anywhere you can find it out with the help of this, as it shows the last location where it was used. You also get many options to change your touch controls on the earbuds means to change the functions of the touch controls.

BATTERY AND ITS LIFE:

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2

The battery life is seven hours of one charge and then you get three additional charges with the charging case which is a total of 28 hours of battery life. Another thing about the battery life on here is it does have a quick charge feature. 10 minutes of charge time will give you an hour and a half of playback time and also charge these completely up is going to take about an hour and a half.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus

One of the biggest upgrades is the battery life. With the Galaxy Buds Plus you get 22 hours of total battery, so that’s 11 hours with the buds and an additional 11 hours with the charging case. If the battery is important to you, go with the Galaxy Buds Plus double the battery life. When it comes to fast charging, with the original buds 15 minutes of charge will give you one and a half hours worth of playtime but with the Galaxy Buds Plus, three minutes of charge will give you one hour’s worth of playtime.

SOUND:

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2

The call quality has always been great on Sennheiser products and there’s no difference with these. You can go in, you can make phone calls in any environment, you’re good wherever. You don’t have to worry about people not hearing you, people saying that it’s muffled or anything like that, I mean something might happen, it might be a one-off case. But Sennheiser really knows what they’re doing when it comes to calling quality.

When the Sennheiser Momentum truly wireless came out I thought that Sennheiser really set the bar for sound quality when it came to listening to music and everything, but since then I do think that the rest of the competition has caught up or even suppressed them even though you can customize the EQ in there. I just don’t think it’s just that much better, they’re like your Sonys, Apples when it comes to sound quality in my opinion. To be worth $300 just to be like another company that’s in competition with you, I really think this is priced too high. For your sound quality definitely want to go into EQ and adjust that to exactly where you want to listen to. With these Sennheisers, I don’t think that they’ve made any big strides or big improvements when it comes to sound quality.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus

It sounds a little bit more clear, definitely better with the highs and the mids. But it’s not mind-blowing and it’s not drastically better. I tested out the sound quality with a bunch of different songs, using a bunch of different music apps, honestly they pretty much sound the same as the originals. I would say the Galaxy Buds Plus might have a little bit more highs and minds but when it comes to volume level, and when it comes to the bass, they sound exactly the same as the originals.

If you’re looking for an upgrade of better sound you don’t need the Buds Plus because for the sound quality they pretty much sound 95% the same as the originals. As far as the sound quality you’re not really gonna notice the difference from the originals with these.

Ambient sound mode is a lot better you sound like a robot here. The biggest upgrade is call quality. The call quality with the Galaxy Bunch Plus is way better than our original Galaxy Buds. The person on the other side heard me better and I heard them better. They even said these sounds like Airpods. If you look in the upgrade for the sound quality it’s not worth it but if you want better ambient sound mode and most importantly if you want better call quality go with the Galaxy Buds Plus. This totally worth that extra 50 dollars.

WHICH TO BUY?

To be honest I do think that the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2  are priced too high at $300. At this price point, there’s no wireless charging in these, but in the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus, they do have the wireless charging at the price if $150 and they are more comfortable too than the Momentum so, in my opinion, you should buy the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus.
