The List Celebrities Who Might Run for President in 2020

american presidency

This has been a crazy and unprecedented last couple of years. When Trump took office, the rules totally changed. Now, it seems not to matter how many degrees you have but how many followers you have. I know, Trump wasn’t the first celebrity president but it also seems like he may not be the last. Celebrities have been coming out of the woodwork announcing their interest in running for president.

Kanye West

Kanye West is interested in running for president. Out of all the celebrities you will hear about, Kanye seems the most serious. He even has a name for his own political party, the birthday party. Kanye was also one of the first to announce his interest in running during his lengthy VMAs acceptance speech where he won an award for his contribution to music. “I have decided in 2020 to run for president.” Kanye declared that he will run for president in 2020, strangely enough.

Kanye is a big fan of Donald Trump. This is indeed a strange timeline we are in right now. I’m sure, Kanye will turn a room in the White House into a recording studio and have collaborations with such hardcore hip-hop heads like Lil Murkie, MC Assad, Big Mackie and who can forget the most gangster rapper of our generation Kim Daddy Un.

Mark Zuckerberg

Although he never officially announced he would run for president, there have been a lot of rumors floating around that he has an interest. I mean, this guy went to all 50 states in 2017 to meet with the leaders and constituents of each states. When asked, if you would be a candidate, his response was “I’m focused on building my community at Facebook and working on a Chan Zuckerberg initiative” which is not exactly a No.

Mark Zuckerberg is already the leader of millions of people who are registered on Facebook. If he did run for president, he can afford his campaign by himself pretty easily. Hillary Clinton set the record for the highest campaign costs and that same amount for Zuckerberg is less than 1% of his net worth. The guy has made four and a half million dollars for every day he’s been alive.

Dwayne Douglas Johnson

The wrestler turned actor expressed interest in the opportunity to help out the country but don’t get your hopes up just yet. He said on the Stephen Colbert show that he decided to run for president, it won’t be until 2024 or 2028. He said that he wants to be fully ready and also told Vanity Fair in November of 2016, this past election shows that anything could happen. Then, he went on to say it would be a great opportunity to help out people. So, it’s possible.

Katy Perry

Katy-Perry

Katy Perry is another celebrity hinting at a presidential run. She has been very active in politics these last years. So, it may come to no surprise. She was campaigning for Hillary Clinton in the last election and even supported Frenemy Taylor Swift when Swift urged her fans in her home state Tennessee to vote democratic during the midterms. Who can forget the pantsuit she wore when she performed at the Grammys, kind of similar to another female that ran for president.

The reason why people are talking about her may be running for president is because of the photo with the caption. She has shown next to Bill Clinton and George Bush with a caption saying, 42, 43, 46. So, Bill Clinton was the 42nd president, George Bush was the next president so that’s 43, then that means Obama was 44, then there was some TV reality star at 45 so that means, she wants to be 46. It means, she’s running for president. I hope this California girl isn’t that one that got away for presidents. “I didn’t finish high school and unfortunately I don’t have a formal education but I do have an open mind and I have a voice” said Katy.

George Clooney

Clooney running for president is solely based on rumors. It all started with what he said in his 2017 interview about his movie Suburbicon. A reporter asked, if he was interested in running for president and he said this, “Would I like to be the next president? Oh, that sounds like fun. Can I just say that I’d like anybody to be the next president of the United States. Right away, please.”

Then, a lot of people started to get suspicious again, when him and his human rights lawyer wife Amal Clooney donated half a million dollars to help fund the student-run march on Washington called March of our lives. March of our lives is a rally that demands action take place to reform gun control after the horrific school shooting in parkland Florida which claimed the lives of 17 people, truly a noble gesture.

Sean Hannity from Fox has some words of his own to show support for Clooney saying, “My attitude is, ‘run, George, run.’ If George Clooney wants to run, I’m all for it. I think Oprah Winfrey would be infinitely better as a candidate than George Clooney.” Of course, he said it in sarcasm and basically what he is trying to say is that George Clooney should run because he will secure a victory for Trump. If Clooney did run for president he is guaranteed to get most of the women voters, that’s for sure.

Ivanka Trump

If you believe the old adage, like father like daughter then get ready for the first female president, I’ts Ivanka Trump. Though, she does have some experience as their father’s right-hand woman in the office. Well, I’m not so sure about this. If she creates laws that are anything like how she behaves in real life.

A lot of people online have been speculating, whether or not Ivanka will or should run for president. I read that she would run for president on the Internet so I guess it must be true. She does have an interest in politics as she is an advisor to the president. But anyway, she isn’t having the best of luck in her new role as she is having her own email scandal. Since she does have political experience already, maybe she is overqualified now.

So, which one of these candidates will get your vote in the next presidential election?
