Do you want to renovate the walls of your house and you don’t know where to start? Wallpaper, natural fibers, vinyl, baseboards … There are options to achieve a unique and personal decoration.
CHOOSE NEW MATERIALS TO ACHIEVE BEAUTIFUL DECORATIVE EFFECTS.
This wall is lined with stone-imitation DM panels that are fixed on a frame. Panels in pieces of 60 x 40 cm made by a specialized carpenter.
A STAINLESS STEEL SKIRTING BOARD
It is the perfect option for current environments, with doors with original finishes or acid-etched glass. Skirting board made with 25 cm wide plates made by a blacksmith.
COME ON TO REPLACE THE HEADBOARD WITH A PLINTH
It is a very decorative solution that, in addition, does not make you lose space. Have a carpenter make you a lacquered MDF skirting, like the one in the photo, which can also look great in walkways, such as the corridor. If you paint the DM in the same color range as the wall, it will be very elegant.
IN THE BEDROOM, PAPER ONLY THE HEADBOARD WALL.
With the contrast between the patterned wallpaper and the rest of the walls, you will achieve a very dynamic atmosphere. Opt for a long-suffering paper: ocher and toasted ones hide friction better than light ones. Paper, from La Maison. Lamp, from the firm Ideas Luz. Cushion and quilt, from Batavia.
EASY TO CLEAN COATINGS ARE REQUIRED IN THE KITCHEN
In this two vinyl papers were combined, so that they could be cleaned with a sponge, separated by a wooden molding. Papeles, from York (in Itzíar Echevarría). Kitchen designed by Ana Rabanal.
PAPER WITH TEXTURE
If you are replacing the headboard with paper, choose a textured, Japanese type. In this way you will protect the area from any friction, since it is very resistant, as well as cozy. Papel, by Manuel and Benito Lamarca. Lamp, by La Oca.
ENHANCE THE WALLS WITH A RELIEF PAPER
There are a multitude of papers on the market that imitate other materials, such as the one in the photo, which reproduces the finish of the plaster. If you are going to place it in the bathroom, apply a coat of varnish so that it does not spoil with moisture. Paper distributed by AC Interiorismo. Taps and sinks, by Laufen.
DIFFERENT PLINTHS
Break with the uniformity of the wall by placing a skirting board at half height (at 1.20 m approx.). A wide molding, like this one, made of white lacquered wood, will add dynamism to the wall. Bedroom decorated by Sofía Pernas and Micaela Neira.
BASEBOARDS
The skirting board must be consistent with the carpentry; if the doors are white, the most logical thing is to choose it in the same finish, even if the floor is made of wood. 14 cm skirting board made by a carpenter. Carpet, from MDM.
PAINT OR WALLPAPER
Vertical stripes is a widely used resource to make the ceilings of a room appear higher and, therefore, visually enlarge the space. If, in addition, you opt for cool tones, such as green, you will increase the feeling of spaciousness and luminosity. Paper, from Farrow & Ball. Lumiere lamps, by Foscarini, for sale at Spot Lux.
MOLDING ON CEILINGS AND WALLS
The moldings are a decorative element that is very fashionable again; in particular, the replicas of the original models. In the photos you can see two plaster friezes that reproduce the models that were already in the house since, when altering the distribution after a work, part of the originals were lost. In addition to providing personality, the moldings hide defects and soften the 90o angle of the corners (€ 95 / m approx. Made by a plasterer).
COMMITTING TO THE MIXING OF TEXTURES IN THE BATHROOM
This combination is innovative: the base is decorated with stoneware, a classic material in the bathroom to protect the wall from moisture; but the upper part was decorated with raffia, a resistant coating, although its installation requires skill so that the joints are not visible. Toilet renovated by Rehabitar Gestión.
