Blue Yeti Pro

The Blue Yeti Pro is a USB condenser microphone. This microphone supports both the USB and the XLR and as this has a headphone jack, this supports zero-latency. This is one of those microphones in the market which is retailing for a higher price. This microphone is retailing for around three hundred and seventy dollars.

The Blue yeti is the First microphone in the Yeti series microphones from the Blue. This is also a USB microphone which means it is just a plug and play system and you just need to plug the USB cable to your microphone and your computer. This microphone is reatiling for around a hundred and thirty dollars currently.

As far as the build quality, this thing feels amazing, it has an all-metal construction, a metal grille, and it feels really well put together. On the bottom of the microphone, you find a 5/8 inch microphone stand adapter, you find the 5 pin XLR port so you can connect this to an XLR interface, you have a USB port, and you have a 3.5-millimeter headphone port which does offer latency-free monitoring.

On the front of the microphone, you have a microphone mute button as well as a headphone volume control. Then on the back of the microphone, you have a microphone gain control as well as a polar pattern selection dial, which allows you to select between stereo, omnidirectional, cardioid, or bi-directional.

As far as the build quality, I am really impressed with this. The stand on this really big enough so that it could pick up you voice well. The stand also has enough weight to it so that it could stand at its place properly. This microphone is available in different colors and some of those colors will bring down the price on this for you.

On the front of this microphone, you have got your mute button, the below it is where you have got your volume dial to control the volume of the headphone. On the back of the microphone is where you have got your gain knob and also, in back you have got a switch to switch between the five polar patterns available in this microphone. On the bottom of the microphone is where you have two ports for this microphone where one is the USB port to connect this microphone to you computer while the other one is the headphone jack for zero-latency monitering.

In the box, obviously, you’re going to get the microphone which has a desktop microphone stand previously installed, you get a five-pin XLR to stereo 3 pin XLR cable, you get a USB cable, and you get some documentation. As far as the specs, this thing has a frequency response of 20 Hertz to 20 kilohertz, a polar pattern of stereo, cardioid, bi-directional, or omnidirectional, a max SPL of 120 decibels, a sampling rate of 22 kilohertz all the way up to 192 kilohertz, and a bit depth of 24-bit.

If the microphone is connected to the Zoom U44 using the five pen to dual 3 pin XLR cable when you are using it an XLR mode, you do need to make sure that both channels have plus 48, and also when you’re using it as an XLR microphone, the headphone port does not work so you won’t get latency-free monitoring, and you can’t listen back to what’s being played through your computer.

We have got fur polar patterns in this microphone. The bi-directional polar pattern picks up audio in the front as well as from the back of the microphone which means this would be an ideal setting if you are having the microphone set in the center of a table, and you have an interviewee sitting across from you. Then we have the cardioid setting which picks up audio in a heart-shaped pattern in front of the microphone, and this would be ideal for the solo podcast, or anything like that.

Next, we have the omnidirectional setting, which picks up audio all the way around the microphone, and this would be an ideal setting for conference calls or any situation where you’re not too concerned with background noise. Lastly, we have a stereo polar pattern that picks up the audio on both sides of the microphone, and this would be ideal for capturing instruments where you want to have a stereo image.

I really love the features on this microphone. As this is a USB microphone, it just uses the plug and play system for recording. You just need to plug the USB cable that comes with this microphone to your computer and to your microphone. Another great feature about this microphone is that this microphone has headphone jack to monitor zero latency on this. This is really a great feature to have so that there is no latency in our recording.

One of the great feature in this microphone is that this microphone has the gain knob and all controls in the microphone itself, so you don’t need to download any separate software for that purpose. There are many microphone sin the market which uses separate software for these purposes while with the Blue Yeti you don’t need to worry about it. This microphone also has four polar patterns such as cardioid, stereo, omnidirectional, and bidirectional.

PERFORMANCE:

Overall, I think it’s a pretty nice sounding microphone. On the electric guitar it sounded really fat and crisp, on the acoustic I thought the stereo image sounded excellent, and on the voice, I also thought it offered a really nice and full tone. If you are looking to record some music demos or pre-production at home, I think this may be a pretty good option for you as this sounds really good.

Blue Yeti

The Blue Yeti really performs its function very well and it really sounds good for its lower price range. This microphone has four polar patterns and it performs all the polar patterns very well. This really sound very good for podcasting, streaming, voiceovers on Twitch, etc. It has crisp high and low ends and also the bass resp[onse is really goo din this  microphone.

WHICH TO BUY?

The Blue Yeti Pro is really good for you because you’re essentially buying four different microphones, that will allow you to do some experimentation with different polar patterns, microphone placement, and all that kind of stuff. The Blue Yeti Pro definitely sounds better than the Blue Yeti so if you can afford that level price range then you can go for the Blue Yeti Pro. If you can afford that much price then you can go for the Blue Yeti, as it also has same polar patterns but the sound quality on this not that great like Yeti Pro.
