Experts Reviews for Acer Predator Helios 700-
By PCWorld
If you’re looking for a no-compromise gaming laptop, take a hard look at the Acer Predator Helios 700. Sure, it loses some contests to the desktop-CPU-equipped Alienware Area 51m R1, but it’s as fast and sometimes faster in others.By TechRadar

Experts Reviews for Lenovo Legion Y740-
To try out the new Lenovo’s gaming lineup, we went ahead and grabbed a Lenovo Legion Y740 gaming laptop. We went with Intel i7-9750H CPU which is coupled with 32 GB of DDR4 RAM at 2666 Mhz and Nvidia RTX 2060 GPU. Do note that Lenovo does offer the full…By HotHardware
The previous-gen Lenovo Legion Y730 was a well-received machine with competitive pricing, but its mid-range GeForce GTX 1050 Ti meant it couldn’t hang with some of the more powerful gaming notebooks on the market at the time. The updated Legion Y740,…By IGN
The Y740 has a unique design and impressive performance at an attractive price. Lenovo has built a machine that strikes a great balance between price and performance, with battery life being the only blemish on an otherwise fantastic laptop.17-inch powerhouseLenovo Legion Y740 17Portable high-end gamingYou won’t get a killer touchpad, thin bezel, or any display options above 1080p, but you will get ridiculous performance at a cost lower than much of the competition. If we break down the gaming market into three categories, it would be casual, mainstream, and competitive. Last year’s Legion Y730 would fit into the casual category, while the Y740 would definitely be on the upper end of mainstream. The competitive…
DESIGN
Acer Predator Helios 700:
The boxy design and massive bezels around the screen make this less like a futuristic gaming, weapon and more like a rice dough rugged laptop from 2014 I’m sorry about that Acer and when undocking the keyboard around people in the office it’s been met with laughs just as often as amazement kind of like telling, all your friends you got a supercar and then showing up in a Gumpert Apollo instead of a Ferrari which brings us to the big question for four grand should you get a Helios 700 probably not I know at the start of the video.
Lenovo Legion Y740:
The design quality it’s got aluminum on the top aluminum on the keyboard deck, and there is some plastic like the bottom is plastic and the back kind of hinge areas plastic but you never feel like it’s poorly made it actually is very well made all around. I’m taking a look today at the Lenovo Legion Y 740 this is the 15.6 inch 144 Hertz screen that this one’s got in here and the r-tx 2070 which will be driving it now that has eight gigabytes of dedicated graphics RAM and the system itself has 16 gigabytes this particular configuration
WEIGHT & DIMENSIONS
Acer Predator Helios 700:
4.5 kg This weight is representative of typical laptops with a 14-16 inch display-diagonal.
Lenovo Legion Y740:
It have a heavy two point two seven kilos and that’s to be expected for a gaming laptop they’ve got increased cooling on them ,if you include the power supply and all the cables needed to so this in your backpack then brings it up to three point two three kilos total travel weight.
KEYBOARD AND TOUCHPAD
Acer Predator Helios 700:
Keyboard to reveal the two arrow blade fans underneath and open up some fresh vents and funds of this kind of thing will probably, appreciate the brief noise and light show as you yank down that keyboard as well very nice although it would be a lot sexier if you actually just push, the button and it did it all automatically instead of having to drag it out but hey ho sliding down that keyboard actually automatically activates the overclocking mode here as well assuming that the laptop is plugged in and has at least 40% battery life to map. The trackpad is pretty awesome for a gaming laptop it features Windows precision drivers and just does a good job but the keyboard is where things get really interesting so in this little case right here we have replacement keys for sad and it’s handy-dandy key cat puller.
Lenovo Legion Y740:
The keyboard also remains unchanged from last year it’s got a pretty clean layout with macro keys on the left it’s got great lighting. I think it has some of the best lighting in the business it’s got some very extensive software it’s also supposedly water-resistant but, I don’t have a big enough balls to test that the one complaint I would have about it is that I wish the keys were a little bit more responsive like it is a gaming laptop so if you’re playing games on this thing it can feel a little bit softer at times than, I would like the trackpad is also Windows trackpad great trackpad kind of a smooth texture there’s also hardware buttons on the bottom if you like to use those but overall it’s a good trackpad there are some things. I dislike obviously I feel like I’ve just been going on this video but how much I like about it for one the webcam is located on the bottom of the screen.
PORT SELECTION
Acer Predator Helios 700:
Ports you get three full-sized USBs a pair of type C’s one of which is Thunderbolt 3, and you also have DisplayPort and HDMI connections conveniently located around the back of the laptop and yep there is an Ethernet connection for glitch-free gaming online that’s 17.3 inch IPS screen certainly offers a grandeur view of the action while your game and but first it’s not quite perfect for one the full HD, resolution is a real shame this thing’s got some real graphical grunt in it you’re gonna have to hook up your own external 4k display to really take advantage.
Lenovo Legion Y740:
he ports on this device are predominantly on the back and you also have some ports on the left and right so on the left you get u s– pc and headphone jack and then on the right you have used to be a and the way that i play my games like I just have my mouse on the right headphone jack on the left and just you just keep your setup clean and they’ve done a good job with just keeping the ports away from your hands when you’re gaming now aesthetically.
DISPLAY
Acer Predator Helios 700:
The Helios 700 with your frame rates easily exceeding the 144 Hertz of display even went on high details the display itself is pretty great it’s 1080p 144 Hertz IPS, panel generally looks great in games even if the frames dip just a bit since it does have g-sync support but there is one problem it’s just too, far away with all the time when you’re installing a program watching a video or even just windows and updating in the background and the problem.
Lenovo Legion Y740:
So we have mini DisplayPort, HDMI 2.0 a 2 USB 3.1 ports Gigabit LAN right there and then the power N and Kensington lock slot on the right hand side we’ve got the single USB 3.1 port here, so this will be grateful of course plugging in a mouse on the left the exit you can see there on the side a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack.
BATTERY
Acer Predator Helios 700:
Battery the benchmark tests by through its way PC mark 10 spun out a score of 6,000 886 while Geekbench for turnout 4490 for the single-core score and 2631 for the multi-core score some of the best results. I’ve ever seen on a gaming laptop, as far as the 3d mark scores are concerned again we got some very very strong results from aces laptop it absolutely smashed the average 4k gaming machine scores.
Lenovo Legion Y740:
To get better battery life when you have enabled stuff looks better stuff looks smoother but it eats up batteries really quickly, alright let’s talk about performance this device is running a 6 core CPU the 8750 H, it’s a great performer especially for multi-core applications. the battery in here remains small it’s the same size as last year 57 watt hours with g-sync enabled. I’m only getting like two and a half hours of battery life with g-sync disabled. I got four hours which is, I mean it’s a small battery it’s kind of expected but if you have like classes you want to bring this thing to school or work you’re gonna have to have an AC adapter with you now speaking of that AC adapter it is a big one it’s 230 watts but it’s probably the biggest 230 watt AC adapter I’ve seen to date it’s easily double the size of the one from the razor blade which is also 230 watts.
PERFORMANCE
Acer Predator Helios 700:
Performance is definitely where it’s at here the predator here the r700 comes with the 9th Gen Intel Core I 990 880 chipset stuffed inside this is no choice for alternative options here but that doesn’t really matter and that’s backed by a maximum of 64 gigs of DDR 4 RAM and that is precisely, how much memory was stuffed inside my review unit it’s an absolute house as far as the graphics, go you get either Nvidia’s GeForce r-tx 2070 or 2080 and this review model was the top-end 2080 version so perhaps unsurprisingly the predator Helios 700.
Lenovo Legion Y740:
The priced product with great performance, and good looks. I think lenovo built this device just right like it’s not super thin it’s thin enough but they didn’t make this thing so thin to the point of detriment like a lot of companies, they try to make these dinner and thinner gaming laptops and it just makes them really difficult to cool these guys obviously did a great job it’s not the thinnest device out there but it’s kind of a great.
CONCLUSION
Acer Predator Helios 700:
I said that, if something works it’s not dumb and Asus sliding keyboard does offer the best GPU thermals we’ve ever seen in a laptop it’s just also so incredibly loud and the screens too far away and it obstructs the speakers as well for the same amount of money you can get a very similarly SPECT Alienware area 51 M that’s a lot quieter has a much better keyboard, and it’s more upgradable but most importantly for me when I use it I feel like a badass, and speaking of badass this sponsor Segway the mass drop object to headphone amplifier an o2 amp was designed and created based on over 500 members of the audio community’s feedback and it serves as the ideal baseline reference amplifier that can power anything from in-ear monitors to HD 800 s you can adjust the input-output and power.
Lenovo Legion Y740:
To conclude that, the bottom bezel is also a little bit thick like the chin of the screen but there’s very little. I dislike about this device I feel like if anything this kind of sets the bar of what manufacturers should kind of aim for like a well priced appropriately.
