Anker Soundcore 2

Anker Soundcore 2 is a super popular budget Bluetooth speaker, in fact, this speaker is so popular it continues to remain on amazon’s best-seller category. This speaker is retailing for around forty dollars currently on Amazon.

Tribit XSound Go

This speaker genuinely packs a huge punch for its price, and this is really surprising. This isn’t a new product from Tribit but it’s definitely one of their winning products for sure. This speaker is retailing for around thirty-seven dollars currently on Amazon.

DESIGN:

Anker Soundcore 2

The Soundcore 2 is undoubtedly a super rugged-looking speaker. It’s small but mighty weighing just under one pound, you can tell that it’s not cheap or flimsy and the build quality is definitely there. Don’t get me wrong, Anker is not gonna win any nominations for most creative design, this is a generic-looking rectangular speaker. But they don’t have to, they focus more on the utility aspect, I appreciate that for one. So the body is mostly built of a hard rubber material that surrounds the entire speaker. This also further solidifies the fact that this is a rugged speaker that can definitely survive a fall or two at arm’s length at the very least.

On the top side, you’ll find all the media playback keys, the play button, the volume buttons, the power button, and the Bluetooth connectivity button. On the side of the speaker, you’ll actually find a rubber door, beyond the rubber door you have a micro USB charging port, and also, an auxiliary jack. It would have been nice to have a USB-C port or consider that Anker put a revision on the Soundcore 2 with the USB-C but hopefully we’ll get that soon. Aside from that on the front side, you actually have a metallic mesh grille this is where the speakers are, and if you look faintly you can actually see two speakers inside.

Tribit XSound Go

This speaker is made really well and feels solid. This has this rubberized satin texture to it, which feels really nice in the hand. The only thing that I would say that sit down is the all cheap shoestring thing that you can place things which to be honest I replaced straightaway with a cheap leather cord. I think that this leather cord matches the quality and style of this speaker that is why I thought I’ll just take the initiative and do the upgrade myself.

The buttons on the top feel tactile and feel good to press as well. By the way, this controls things like power, your pairing process as well as pause and play, and your volume controls and skip stations and tracks as well. On the front, we have two really nice six-watt drivers which are powered by a 4400 milliamp-hour battery. On the back of this speaker, we have the water-resistant flap which reveals a three-and-a-half millimeter jack for connecting up your iPod or anything like that as well as a micro USB port for charging.

When you buy an Anker Soundcore 2 it comes in a pretty generic-looking box, so basically, you have an image of the Soundcore 2 along with some description, and additional information on the box itself. Once you open the box, you are greeted by a smaller blue box inside this box, you’ll find a micro USB to USB-A cable, and the owner’s manual itself. Finally, coming back to the box inside you have the speaker itself, which is neatly packed once you remove that you will get the speaker. This speaker is available in black, orange, and blue variant.

As far as some of the signature features of the Soundcore 2, the first and foremost is that this speaker has whopping 24-hour battery life. In a real-world test of around 80 volume, I got close to 21 hours of non-consecutive use, which is still absolutely amazing. This will last you a day and then some, so you don’t have to worry about charging it very often. Also, this is IPX7 waterproof rated, which means you can literally take this speaker for a swim, though I don’t recommend that. It’s theoretically able to survive one meter of water depth for up to 30 minutes, what this means for the average consumer is you can use this in the rain, take it near the pool, take it near the beach, go into the shower with it, and it’s going to be just fine it’s designed to make a splash for sure.

Also, its rugged design means that it fairly impacts resistance though I would not advise dropping this and like any product taking good care of it definitely. Also, it’s worth noting that the overall connectivity with Bluetooth is very strong. So even if your device is several meters away from the actual speaker, there’s no distortion, there’s no cutting or interference with the Bluetooth connection good job there Anker. 

The Anker Soundcore 2 is a fantastic speaker that kind of sets this perfect balance between quality and value. It offers enough sound quality that you won’t feel like you’re listening to a cheap or flimsy speaker system, and you’ll see get a nice beat out of your songs. However, at the same time, it offers the versatility and portability you’d want from a small Bluetooth speaker. It’s also built really rugged and I love that. They have a nice IPX7 water-resistant rating, which means you can definitely take this thing in any environment, and at the same time, I love how they give you an 18-month warranty. Anker really wants you to feel confident in this product, and that shows both by the design and just by the general fact that they advertise all these things so publicly. Overall, I think 50 is a fair price point and I would definitely recommend this speaker for anyone who wants to stay in the budget category without compromising on too much quality.

Tribit XSound Go

When I got my hands on this and I just had to pair them straight away to my devices, and I loved how easy and fast it was to pair. They do use a Bluetooth 4.2 connection, which is good I would have liked to have seen Bluetooth 5.0 as it is a much newer and sort more stable, more reliable connection but I can’t really complain. The great thing about this speaker is that it’s IPX7 water-resistant, meaning it’s no problem to have this by your shower or by the pool. I mean it sort really matches the sort of ruggedness of this speaker and being able to take it pretty much anywhere you go.

This is rated for up to 24 hours of playback and trust me, this gets pretty close to that claim which is awesome. At max volume, it does sort of drop off a little bit but it only takes about 4 to 5 hours to fully charge this speaker. This speaker charges via micro USB, fortunately, there’s no USB-C which isn’t really a deal-breaker but it would have been nice to have obviously. I do like USB-C on all my devices. It does have a built-in microphone which isn’t really the best microphone. I’m not sure why they include it but to be fair who really uses the microphone in your speakers anyway.

It’s really rugged, it holds up really well for tucking it in and out of a bag or you know throwing it around the house, and the quality is really nice. I didn’t have any problems with sort of dropping out in sound. The sound quality is also amazing for its source size and price, and the buttons feel tactile I mean it doesn’t feel cheap at all. Overall, this is a great speaker for the price.

SOUND QUALITY:

Anker Soundcore 2

As far as the sound quality of the Anker Soundcore 2, it is definitely the best-sounding sub 100 dollars speakers you can get out there. I mean it’s nothing ground-breaking but it’s got a little bit of everything. It’s got enough bass to add oomph to a song and put flavor to it, it’s got enough clarity not to sound distorted, even at 100 volume distortion is minimal at best. Overall, this has enough power to fill any small to mid-sized room.

Tribit XSound Go

The clarity was really nice and the bass was impressive. This isn’t the deepest bass, I mean for its size the bass is pretty good, and as I mentioned before this is one of the best sounding speakers especially for the price range. I mean it packs a punch for speakers, so double that price. For its size and price, it definitely sounds good. Definitely, you can’t expect more output out of this kind of budget-friendly speaker.

WHICH ONE IS WORTH BUYING?

In my opinion, the Anker Soundcore 2 is worth buying than the Tribit XSound Go because both may have similar features at the same price range but the Anker Soundcore 2 sounds better than the Tribit XSound Go.
