Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Blue Yeti

The Blue yeti is one of the popular USB microphones in the market. This mic is one of the all-rounder microphone in the market which has four modes of polar patterns in only one mic. This mic has no XLR cables and no aux cables in it. This microphone is retailing for around a hundred and thirty dollars currently.

Audio-Technica AT2035

The AT 2035 is a microphone in the 2000 series Audio-Technica microphone line, and it is one of three as of now large diaphragm condenser microphones that falls within that 2000 series. The other two being the AT2020 which is priced around a hundred dollars and the AT2050 which is around $225. The AT2035 is priced right near the middle at $200 currently.

DESIGN:

Blue Yeti

On the front, we have the volume control that is for the headphone monitoring, and then we have a mute switch with a LED that lets you know when it is muted and unmuted. On the backside of the mic, we have the gain controller, and we have the switch for four modes of polar patterns.

Apart from that, this mic gets connected via a USB port, you don’t need any batteries or any external power, and the power is drawn from the USB. There is also a headphone jack for monitoring the recording from the microphone. This is one of the first THX-certified microphones. You can also unscrew the mic from the stand, and we have a slot under this mic, where you can attach this mic to a boom set or a mic stand.

Audio-Technica AT2035

The AT3035 microphone is basically a more premium version of the AT2035 microphone and aside from the color that silver and the fact that the diaphragm is a little bit higher in the 3035, you’re not going to really be able to see much of a difference in the AT2035 from AT3035. Just they have diminished the quality of the parts on the At3035 to sell them at a lower price and named as the AT2035.

In the actual build quality, if you held both of these microphones in your hands blindfolded, they’re the exact same thing, they feel the same, they are weighted the same, the grilles give just as much on one as it does the other, and even the screws on the microphones themselves holding them together are the same.

FEATURES:

Blue Yeti

The first thing that you notice about the mic is it’s quite big, it’s about a foot long, and it weighs also considerably, it’s about 3 pounds. You can also rotate this mic downward and you can carry it along. But by any standards, this is not a portable microphone. This mic has a 3-way condenser capsule for great recording capabilities.

There is no software that comes with the mic, this is a plug-and-play mic. There is no software, so you can use any free software for the mic like for the Mac I used audacity and I also use GarageBand sometimes with this mic. This is a professional-grade USB mic and this is actually a 4 in 1 mic. In my opinion, this is one of the finest USB mics that you can use. First, we have the cardio mode, we have the omnidirectional mode, we have the stereo mode, and the bi-directional mode.

Audio-Technica AT2035

The Audio-Technica sells 2000 series microphones that are a model number starting with a 2 followed by 3 digits like the 2020 or the 2035 or the 2050 but they also sell for a few hundred dollars more and more premium microphones in the 4000 series microphone line. For example, the AT4040 following the same exact formula but what they do not sell anymore is the 3000 series of microphones like for example, the AT3035 microphone, which was priced between the two price ranges in the 2000 series in the 4000 series.

The Audio-Technica a few years ago decided they were going to get rid of the 3000 series, and either does one of three things with the microphones either get rid of the model number altogether raise it up to a 4000 series microphone, or lower it down to a 2000 series microphone. They realized that with many of the microphones in the 3000 series they weren’t worth saving because there was another option that was either priced slightly below or slightly above and was almost as good. They found it not necessary to take it up to a 4000 series microphone and suddenly charge more for it so they decided to make a 2000 series microphone and simply replace some of the more premium parts with less expensive parts.

PERFORMANCE:

Blue Yeti

This mic has four modes of polar patterns and with those four modes, this mic performs as four different mics. First in the bi-directional mode what happens is the mic picks up the sound from the front and back part of the mic and it doesn’t pick up anything from the sides. The second mode is the cardio mode and this is the most useful mode according to me. This is the mode in which this is going to pick up the sound coming from the front and from both the sides and this pattern it’s going to ignore everything from the back, and this is the mode which is used mostly with the podcast and video recording.

Then we have the omnidirectional mode where it’s going to pick up sound from everywhere, from 360 degrees, and then the last is we have the stereo mode where it’s going to pick up the audio in the stereo format. The stereo mode is great for musicians or somebody who is going to record a musical instrument. This mic works really great with all four modes of this mic and for the price, it’s retailing for, it really performs all four modes really well.

Audio-Technica AT2035

At a price point, 50 dollars more than the AT2020 is it’s sounding better but you would expect for $75 more and it would sound better. The Audio Technica 2035 is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone with a cardioid polar pattern and no others. It also has a 10 dB pad and a low-frequency roll-off.

There was a name-brand microphone just as name-brand as this Audio-Technica with almost the exact microphone specifications and that sounds almost the exact same and is made better for less money than is the Mystery mic. When this mic is close to your mouth you gonna get a lot of extra bass response.

WHICH TO BUY?

Buying a microphone definitely depends on what do you prefer the most like the features and the price. The price of the product and their features are correlated with each other and also the quality of the feature and the price is correlated with each other. On this basis, you can buy a product by considering the points below:

  1. If you want a multi-featured microphone under the price range of a hundred and fifty dollars, then you can buy the Blue Yeti because it has four modes of polar patterns while the AT2035 has only one.
  2. If you want a qualitative microphone for streaming, podcasting, etc then the At2035 is good for you to buy because the Cardioid mode in the AT2035 is better than that it Blue Yeti.

Expert Reviews of Blue Yeti:

By Podcastinsights
Even though the Blue Yeti tends to be popular with beginners (it was the first external microphone I bought), I find that it performs much better in the hands of someone slightly more experienced with audio recording.

By TechRadar
The Blue Yeti is a great option for anyone who just wants to plug in and play without spending hours tweaking audio settings.

By cnet
The Yeti is one of the richest sounding, sonically flexible USB microphones money can buy, but its large size makes it inconvenient for portable applications.

By MusicRadar
For podcasting, streaming, and video conferencing, the Blue Yeti is still as simple and easy to use as ever. Highly recommended.

By the podcast host
I think it’s a great option for someone looking for a simple set-up, but also a decent level of sound quality. The Yeti certainly sounds better than its little brother, the Blue Snowball, which is another popular starter microphone.
