Detail Review:
INTRODUCTION:
Blue Yeti
The Blue Yeti is a USB microphone and USB microphone is literally just connects via USB to your computer, there are no XLR cables, no aux cable anything like that. So, it’s literally just USB to computer or USB to a gaming console, whatever you want to use it for and it’ll just automatically play. This microphone is retailing for around a hundred and thirty dollars currently.
Razer Seiren X
The Razer Seiren X microphone is from the Razer Seiren lineup which also includes two other microphones, it’s the Seiren and Seiren Pro and they’re a little bit bigger than this. This microphone is really good for streamers and video makers. This microphone is retailing for around a hundred and twenty-two dollars currently.
DESIGN:
Blue Yeti
On the front of the mic, you have a Blue logo and below it, there is a mute button which is really useful for streamers. Also, on the front there is going to be a volume dial for your headphones, don’t confuse that thing with your gain knob. The gain knob is going to be right there on the back, and the gain knob on the back actually controls the preamps and the microphone, and how much noise it’s actually recording. So, don’t confuse that with your volume dial. The volume dial is strictly for your headphones, it’s just for how loud are your headphones, and then the gain knob is how loud is your microphone. Also, on the back, there is going to be a polar pattern dial in which there are four different modes on this microphone.
Underneath the mic, there are three different condenser capsules and that’s why it allows there to be so many different modes where it can record from different angles as it has three different mics on this. On the bottom, there’s going to be a latency-free headphone jack, and then there’s also going to be the USB mini jacks that’s just what connects it to your computer, it’s a USB mini to USB cable. Then last but not least on the bottom, there is going to be a little threaded mic stand mount, and this is just a standard thread for any mic stance, you could get a desk arm to mount your microphone if you want to mount it top-down you could do that.
I’m really impressed with the build quality, also this microphone is massive. It stands at about a foot tall, weighs about three and a half pounds with the stand, so this thing is hefty. It’s big, it’s heavy-duty, and it just looks professional. This microphone is actually available in a bunch of different colors and some of the different colors will actually bring down the price but the black one stands at about 129 dollars currently.
Razer Seiren X
Underneath the microphone, there is a micro USB port to connect it to your computer, and there is a 3.5-millimeter zero-latency monitoring port. This is not to connect it to your computer, this is to connect a pair of headphones to the microphone, and hear yourself back for monitoring in real-time. On the front of the speaker, there is a button with a LED that mutes the microphone.
There is also a volume knob in the front of this microphone which is for that monitoring port underneath there. You can’t control the gain of the microphone from the microphone itself, as there is no gain knob in this microphone like the Blue Yeti, so that’s a little disappointing. There is also the Razer logo on the back of the microphone.
FEATURES:
Blue Yeti
All the other USB mics that I looked at were really compromising on something, but in this one, they made no compromises. It has all features you need, it’s not the best in any one thing, so it’s not the best podcast microphone, it’s not the best USB microphone but it’s really good at all of them. Setting this microphone up was a breeze, it’s so easy you just plug it into the USB port on your computer, open up whatever recording software you’re using, if you want a free solution use Garageband or audacity.
The Blue Yeti is so nice, this is so clean, solid build, and it has metal all over. The Blue Yeti USB microphone comes in black color as well as silver color. It was a lot more secure in the box with such great packaging. In the box, it basically just comes with a USB cable and some papers, manual, warranty everything like that, and then obviously the microphone and stand come together.
One thing to note is you don’t need to download any external software or anything with this microphone. In some microphones, you have to download their software and you have to record using their software but this one has so many monitoring dials, and everything on it so, you actually don’t need to connect up to anything, just to adjust gain or volume anything like that. It’s all on the microphone, so you don’t need any extra software which is just nice.
Razer Seiren X
At the front of the box, we have a nice picture of this condenser microphone, the box also claims that Razer is marketing this towards the streamers and video creators, for its size it’s a foreign factor and hopefully the quality is there too and they are sponsored by OBS. On the back, there is some basic information about the microphone, ultra-precise pickup pattern filters out unwanted noises, it’s supposed to be like a super-cardioid pattern, it has a built-in shock mount that dampens the vibrations.
In the box, you get the actual microphone, documentation from Razer some QuickStart guides, and all, the actual metal stand if you want to set this on the desk in front of you, rather than have it mounted on an arm stand. This stand is made of solid metal, it has a good weight to it, solid foam on the bottom. Also, you get an extender for the mic stand and a soft braided cable which is pretty long to connect this microphone to your computer.
There is a built-in shock mount because the way this microphone is shaped you cannot use your normal suspension mount with this. The built-in shock mount does works well. I have not been very impressed with the background noise reduction on this microphone that’s just kind of the problem when you get with a condenser microphone. The setup process is really easy just plug the USB cable into the computer and your microphone and you are done with that.
PERFORMANCE:
Blue Yeti
The performance of this microphone depends on four different modes of polar pattern for the recording that comes with and each one performs in a different way. First is going to be cardioid, mainly focusing where it hears its noise from the front, then a little bit from the sides, and then it rejects all the noise from the back. So, as we rotate this mic around, you’re going to hear less noise from the side and then when we go around to the back it’s going to hopefully reject all the noise completely.
The next mode is going to be stereo mode, which means if you are recording the voice from the right of the mic then you are going to hear that from the right side of your headphone, and you record from the left side then you are going to hear it from the left side of your headphone. So, this one is really good if you’re recording like instruments or a band, and if you want to make it very clear that the sound’s coming from different places, use stereo mode.
The third mode is gonna be omnidirectional, in which it’s going to record from every part of the mic at the same level. So, this is good for a conference call when you keep this mic in the center of the table it’ll pick up everyone equally from every angle. The last mode is bi-directional, in this mode, it will record from the front, and it will record from the back, and it will reject the noise from the sides and this mode is really good for interviews.
Razer Seiren X
As far as the performance of this microphone, there is only one polar pattern available in this which is the super-cardioid. With the super-cardioid mode, it can focus more on the front and a little on the sides of the microphone but it doesn’t record anything from the back of the mic and totally rejects each and every sound from the back of the microphone. This one sounded much more clear like it’s picking up the voice more naturally.
On this one, a pop filter or windscreen is definitely be something you might want to invest in if you’re gonna be using this microphone or keeping it close to your face because with the help of this you can turn down the gain on the microphone, and reduce some of the background noise if you just set this on the desk in front of you. When you put the windscreen on it should be reducing some of the popping sounds when talking directly into it, and hopefully doesn’t make the sound too muffled or closed off and but you’re going to get a little bit less clarity than you were getting beforehand without the windscreen.
WHICH ONE IS WORTH BUYING?
In my opinion, the Blue Yeti is worth buying than the Razer Seiren X and for 130 dollars it’s totally worth it in 2020 because of the following reasons:
- If you’re a streamer, YouTuber, doing voice-overs, conference calls, interviews, and specifically you need a USB microphone, then you should go for the Blue Yeti as you get different polar pattern modes to perform all the above functions but in Razer Seiren X you get the super-cardioid mode only.
- You don’t get the gain knob in the Razer Seiren X while you do get the Gain knob with the Blue Yeti microphone.
Expert Reviews of Blue Yeti:
By Podcastinsights
Even though the Blue Yeti tends to be popular with beginners (it was the first external microphone I bought), I find that it performs much better in the hands of someone slightly more experienced with audio recording.By TechRadar
The Blue Yeti is a great option for anyone who just wants to plug in and play without spending hours tweaking audio settings.By cnet
The Yeti is one of the richest sounding, sonically flexible USB microphones money can buy, but its large size makes it inconvenient for portable applications.By MusicRadar
For podcasting, streaming, and video conferencing, the Blue Yeti is still as simple and easy to use as ever. Highly recommended.By the podcast host
I think it’s a great option for someone looking for a simple set-up, but also a decent level of sound quality. The Yeti certainly sounds better than its little brother, the Blue Snowball, which is another popular starter microphone.Expert Reviews of Razer Seiren X:

For streamers who need a portable and/or space-saving setup, the Seiren X is a good fit, offering crystal-clear vocals. But despite its “super-cardioid” polar pattern, it does pick up keyboard and mouse clicks.By Forbes
The Seiren X is derived from Razer’s Seiren Elite, a rather hefty $200 USB microphone that offers a lot of quality but at a higher price than those with smaller streams and budgets.By MrGadget
For creators who are planning to take YouTube and Twitch streaming seriously, it’s time to leave headset mics behind and move on to a more quality broadcasting device – which Razer’s Seiren X aims to be. Aside from targeting gamers and streamers who want to go pro, it is also marketed for individuals who are always…By review studio
The Razer Seiren X provides delightfully crisp voice audio, a sleek aesthetic, and a compact design at an entry-level price point for professional microphones. It’s an excellent grab for those in need of a high-quality microphone for work calls, gaming, streaming, or content creation, though high-level professional content creators may find themselves springing for a more expensive microphone if they can afford one.By Hitechcentury
With a compact form factor that makes it easy to tote around, extremely easy plug-and-play installation, and decent sound quality that’s markedly better than what you’d get from a headphone mic or built-in laptop mic, the Seiren X is an appealing choice for novice podcasters and live streamers looking to get their feet wet in the game and for veterans looking for a sturdy portable setup to take offsite for tournaments and the like.
