Detail Review:

INTRODUCTION:

Bose SoundLink Revolve+

The Bose SoundLink revolve Plus is like the elder brother of the Bose SoundLink Revolve. Actually, this is one of the speakers from the SoundLink series speakers. This speaker is retailing for around two hundred and fifty dollars.

JBL Xtreme 2

The JBL Xtreme 2 is the updated version speaker of the JBL Xtreme the original speaker. This is one of the popular portable speakers from the JBL. This speaker is retailing for around three and fifty dollars currently on Amazon.

DESIGN:

Bose SoundLink Revolve+

On top of the speaker you’re gonna find a pretty sturdy carrying handle, it actually looks like it should be more springy like a bungee cord, but it’s not. It’s actually really firm and sturdy, making it easy to carry around. However, if you have it on the table at the barbecue and you knock it over, no worries there, because the SoundLink Revolve Plus is also shock resistant. I tested it by dropping it quite a few times and everything was totally cool, still works as it should. You could also use the SoundLink Revolve Plus as a speakerphone.

On the bottom of the device, you’re gonna find a threaded universal mount, which allows you to actually mount the speakers directly on any standard tripod. So, if you’re looking for a place to put it and you have no space, grab a tripod, and set it upright on there.

JBL Xtreme 2

As far as the design, it looks like JBL Charge 3. So, this just looks like an enlarged Charge 3. It still has the woven fabric material around which is very rugged. The speaker is waterproof as opposed to the splash-proof on the JBL Xtreme, so the JBL Xtreme 2 is completely waterproof, so you can submerge it in water. What I noticed is that this is quite difficult to see I would have preferred it to be placed very close to the JBL logo that would have made it much more visible, so that is what I noticed from the design.

Button placements are pretty much the same on the JBL Xtreme 2, you still have your volume rocker things, your Bluetooth connect button and then you’ve got your play and pause button, and the only difference is that you’ve got the JBL to connect plus button as opposed to the JBL connect on the JBL Xtreme. You still have your power button there and it’s pretty much for bottom placements. You still have the JBL logo, there is no black strip near the battery indicator.

FEATURES:

Bose SoundLink Revolve+

The Bose SoundLink Revolve Plus is a $299 portable Bluetooth speaker. It sports a 16-hour battery life from the lithium-ion battery on the inside, which is rechargeable with a micro USB. As we open up the box, on the inside we’re gonna find the SoundLink Revolve Plus speaker itself, along with a micro USB cable and the USB AC adapter. After getting it all unboxed, the setup is super simple and it actually has voice prompts that walk you through the Bluetooth pairing process. And the voice prompts even support multiple languages making it easy pretty much no matter what language you speak.

You can actually connect up to two devices at a time to one speaker allowing two different people the ability to change tracks and manage the music at the same time. Up to eight devices can be stored on the device at once. Even more convenient than that voice prompt pairing, if you have a compatible device with an NFC chip built-in, you can just use that instead simply by tapping the device to the top of the Revolve Plus. The main event there is that Bose sound and the Revolve Plus get their name from the 360-degree nature of the speaker system.

You can take calls over Bluetooth as this has a speakerphone and it’s got great sound quality. And on a similar note, since it’s connected to your phone over Bluetooth, you can press and hold the action button to bring up your phone’s digital assistant and use it directly through the speaker. I’m talking about things like Siri and Google Voice Search. Using the Bose Connect app, you can actually connect multiple speakers together so that they’re all playing the same music, or connect a pair together so that one speaker becomes a left channel and the other becomes the right channel, giving you a much wider soundstage.

As far as the technical terms, Bose says the SoundLink Revolve Plus speaker combines dual opposing passive radiators with a powerful ultra-efficient transducer positioned face down and a new patented acoustic deflector. The Revolve Plus sounded the same whether plugged in or running off the battery, although Bose says output is limited slightly to conserve power once the battery hits 30% and lower. It’s true 360 degrees sound, which provides consistent and uniform coverage no matter where you place it in a room.

JBL Xtreme 2

In this speaker, you only have one single USB port on the JBL Xtreme 2 as opposed to the two USB ports for charging devices on the JBL Xtreme. So if you are going to be taking these out those are charging multiple devices might be a little bit of an issue because you only have one USB port. The JBL Xtreme 2 is slightly larger than the JBL Xtreme bott in length and width, it’s larger and wider, and it’s also heavier.

In mind in terms of battery life, it’s similar to what you are getting on the JBL Xtreme. The Xtreme 2 has 15 hours battery life we are going to get approximately 15 hours are depending on your use. On max volume, you are going to get like 5 hours approximately, they are about. I might get a little bit more than that or a little bit less it depends on the type of music and the volume you’re playing it at.

You also have that one USB port, you don’t have two USB ports. So it makes it kind of difficult for me recommending these for outdoor activities. But for indoor listening, this quite does a good job as you as I told you earlier on it sounds better than the JBL Xtreme. The treble is not as harsh and slightly Claire a mids and the bass is not as boosted, and it’s much deeper, the bass goes slightly deeper, so you get is more accurate bass as opposed to the much boosted and Bummy bass on the JBL Xtreme.

They should have made the JBL Xtreme 2 louder over even louder than the JBL Xtreme and I should have made it much more powerful like 50 watts drivers maybe 50 or even 60 watts of total output power because the Xtreme 2 only has 40 watts which is the same as that on the JBL Xtreme. So JBL did not make any major improvements on the Xtreme 2, so it’s not really what’s upgrading from the Xtreme to the JBL Xtreme 2. So if you are looking for a speaker to take outdoors, I will definitely recommend the JBL Xtreme as opposed to the JBL Xtreme 2.

Bose SoundLink Revolve+

SOUND QUALITY:

Bose SoundLink Revolve+

As far as the sound quality this is actually, in my opinion, the best portable speaker that Bose has ever released. And it’s arguably the best Bluetooth speaker on the market currently at this price range and size. It’s like carrying around a lantern that puts out amazing sound instead of light. Why do you think that 360 degrees sound needed to be placed anywhere in the room, I actually found it’s mutter better to be placed near a wall so that the speakers can get some refection, which ends up improving bass.

JBL Xtreme 2

The overall sound quality on the JBL Xtreme 2 definitely is better than that on the JBL Xtreme. The treble on the Xtreme 2 is not as harsh as not on the JBL Xtreme. The mids are also better, you get better mids, and then the bass is not as boosted as that on the JBL Xtreme. As far as the overall loudness, it’s a different story entirely. It’s not as loud as the JBL Xtreme, if you ask me and at max volumes, it sounded kind of very soft, the bass seems to disappear, and it’s kind of very soft. On the Xtreme, it loses bass at max volume but on these, its overall sound is just kind of soft. This doesn’t have that punchy sound, it’s not really that’s room feeling and it doesn’t really immersive.

JBL Xtreme 2

WHICH TO BUY?

If you’re looking for a great, portable Bluetooth speaker that’ll fill a room or an outdoor party, you really can’t go wrong by picking up the Bose SoundLink Revolve Plus. So in my opinion, the Bose SoundLink Revolve Plus is better than the JBL Xtreme 2 because it has similar features as the Xtreme 2 for 100 dollars lower price range.
