This is the review comparison between two headphones of a popular brand i.e. Corsair. The Corsair HS70 and Corsair void pro RGB have different features and designs. Performance-wise also both headset performs great as both are from the famous and successful brand. The price gap between both headsets is not that much. INTRODUCTION:

Corsair HS70

The Corsair HS70 is probably Corsair’s best headset. Its Plush memory foam and adjustable ear cups provide exceptional comfort. The sound quality of this headphone is superior. The battery life is up to 16 hours. Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) software gives you full control over your headset’s features through an intuitive and simple to use interface. The build quality of this headphone is premium and nice. It gives easy access to on-ear volume and mute controls for adjustments.

Corsair Void Pro RGB Wireless

Corsair void pro RGB is a brand new gaming headset from Corsair. The corsair void pro RGB Dolby 7.1 surround sound headset. This void pro headset comes a year after their last release with the regular corsair void and they’ve made some changes this time around. The audio performance is epic and it provides great comfort too. Build quality of this headset is premium. It is an all-new unidirectional noise-cancelling microphone with LED mute indicated that reduces ambient noise for enhanced voice quality.

DESIGN:

Corsair HS70

The HS 70 got quite a HyperX cloud light kind of look. The ear cups are of oval shape. On the back they’ve got a metal grille, you may think it’s an open-back headset but it isn’t, it’s very much closed. The grille is really there just for the aesthetics. It does have oval ear cushions which are covered with some faux leather, it’s padded memory foam. However, the ear cushions are not removable which is a minus point, it was the same with the HS 50 as well.

The cups are attached to the headband with aluminum yolks which feel really good, they’re really solid it gives a really nice premium feel to the HS 70. Also, it does have a metal headband slider as well it has clear markings so you can make sure you can get exactly the right size on both sides of the headset. On the top of the headband, it got some more padding and it’s interesting that the stitching on the HS70 is white even though HS70 is the black model they just added a bit more interest in a bit more contrast to HS70. Overall it looks really good, looks really clean, and, really smart.

Corsair Void Pro RGB Wireless

When you will see the box, it really doesn’t look too different from the last release. That’s kind of a good thing. It does have a very unique looking style to it, it looks pretty simple. It definitely has the angular look to it fitting in with the Corsair branding nothing really to complain about it. In terms of buttons, everything you’re gonna need to know is, use the headset that comes on the left ear cup. On the top back side, you have the power button and a mic mute button. On the bottom, it’s kind of your volume rocker plus a micro-USB port for charging it. 

Also, on the left ear cuff is the microphone there, where they have made some upgrades to it which you’ll be happy to know. Also right in front of your mouth is the little LED light strip for notifying you when it is muted or not and to mute the microphone either have that button up there which mutes the mic or you can just simply fold it upward it’ll activate and then be muted.

COMFORT & CONTROL:

Corsair HS70

Corsair HS70 is very much comfortable. It’s a tighter fit and it feels a lot more comfortable than any other headset. The fabric on the ear cushions is covered with faux leather, and the leather feels a bit nicer. You can wear these headphones for a longer time. The HS70 cups have some swivel to them so you can get a slightly more personal fit however, they cannot live flat you cannot rotate it 90 degrees, and cannot keep them on your neck for resting.

On the ear cups, they have given some controls, on the left ear we’ve got a volume wheel, and just below that there’s a mic mute button. Also, we have a small LED indicator that lets you know if it’s charging or if it’s paired and it also gives you different colors depending on the battery. Below that there is a micro-USB charging port that is purely to charge, you can’t use it to connect to your PC and use without the wireless dongle. On the right-hand cup, we just have the power button which is self-explanatory really.

In terms of adjustment you definitely have some flexibility in these headphones, if you have a larger and huge head, this will definitely fit well as it’s definitely getting pushed down. It will also fit well with the one with the smaller head. Though there are tons of other RGB peripherals, the RGB lighting on a headset is not that important according to me because I never saw the point but for the knowledge, inside the software, you can go in and change some of the lighting effects around things like you know picking one static color for it to be mean you really only have the corsair sales logo on each side of the earcup, so you see what I’m saying. There are also things like a blinking effect, a breathing effect, and, a beat effect plus a pulse effect. Honestly, there is no difference between blinking, breathing, beating, and, pulsing they’re all kind of the same thing, kind of just a point of the lighting options there.

The headset itself is really lightweight there wasn’t much of a problem we also have that same soft mesh texture on the top of the headband so, it’s not gonna be having any pressure points on the top of your head. The one thing I’m always a fan of is when the ear cups rotate around 90 degrees, so you can have it laying flat on your neck, it’s just a personal preference of mine I like when headsets include this. Real quick with that volume rocker if you press it in for a few seconds that will enable the Dolby surround sound. If we just quickly press it in it’ll go through some of the EQ presets. The first being that the microphone itself is rubber and it actually bends the way you wanted to be, which is a nice upgrade over the regular Corsair void which was very stiff and it would just slap on the lips a few times when we try to move it, that wasn’t too pleasant. 

FEATURES:

Corsair HS70

The battery life of HS70 is up to 16hours, so it’s good. But I’ve heard that it last up to 14 hours however, you can charge the headset and use it at the same time, you get the micro-USB cable included in the box however, you still have to have the 2.4 gigahertz dongle connected, you can’t just use it as a completely wired device. On that note I would have really liked as well a micro USB to 3.5-millimeter cable included, so you could use the headset on-the-go as I really think it is that good I’d be very happy to use this out and about because the sound quality is really good, it’s really clean, really crisp, so having that versatility would only help the HS70.

With the software corsair Q and corsair utility engine, there’s really not a whole lot to the HS70. Over on the right-hand side, you’ve got Mike volume and you can also control sidetone, there’s a little button down there that lets you change between stereo and the virtual 7.1 modes, whereas over on the left-hand side there’s an EQ presets tab which will actually choose between various different eq’s if you want them or you can leave it off. The settings enable just a couple more options, you can see quite importantly it gives you a specific battery percentage just over there in the corner, you can also enable the voice prompts which is essentially the little AI robot telling you when the headset is paired and so on and you can also control auto shut off say you haven’t used the headset for five or ten minutes, you can tell it to turn off after that. So, the software is nice and simple there’s not much to control with headsets but the Q software gives you everything you need so it works well.

Corsair Void Pro RGB Wireless

The RGB lighting is going to significantly affect your battery life in the end for your wireless headset. They do write this at around 16 hours. Personally, I found 14 hours of average without turning on RGB lighting as I don’t like it but with RGB lightning on I assume you get significantly less probably closer to six or eight hours. If you want my opinion don’t use RGB lighting get all the battery juice you can this will last you’ve definitely a few gaming sessions then and even around 10 to 12 hours it’s gonna be more than enough if you don’t play that much during the day it’ll be able to survive your gaming session, which is always a good thing.

The first thing you will notice is when you will listen to a podcast oddly enough and will emulate it, you will hear much more wide space and a lot more echo because when you will film a podcast there won’t be a lot of foam or anything like that so you will hear a more natural sound. Like I said just very impressed with the Dolby surround sound however when I do say that since in the software you can have other eq’s turned on or off just to have that your best-emulated surround sound doesn’t have any other EQ on leaving it playing if you don’t choose you to see surround sound there are other EQ so you can either make or pick from things like forward enhancing vocals if you’re watching a movie there’s a movie preset an FPS preset where you can go in and make your own I found that for me when I was playing an FPS game I had the FPS preset turned on and overall sound pretty good not usually a big fan Presets so there we’ve got a give-and-take with me but the options are there.

For you guys the price point at $129.99, I think is very friendly considering you’re getting a 7.1 surround sound wireless headset like this, usually, they start to average around 150 and up typically especially with RGB lighting in them even though, I’m not a big fan of the RGB lighting and headsets. The price overall is still very friendly, it is lightweight. But, I still wish we could use this wired if the battery dies something like that I don’t understand why that’s not integrated onto this USB hubs I just plug it in, and then the mic quality I still wish it was a little bit better it’s just not what I would like to hear coming out of this and then lastly I just don’t understand the RGB lighting here, it’s not really a con but it just doesn’t make much sense I’ll rather them take that all out and improve the battery life in the end and partially even save some money.

MICROPHONE:

Corsair HS70

At the very bottom of the left ear cup, there is a small little rubber cover that protects the microphone port. Also, the mic is keyed so you can’t put the mic in the wrong way and you will see the mic is very flexible as well you can bend it almost every which way you want which is great. However, there is no pop filter included with the mic. The connectivity of corsair HS70 is also good. It connects via a 2.4 gigahertz connection and that’s with the little USB dongles that give them a 40-foot range. So, the range of these headphones is actually really good. You can even walk out of your room or down the hall and it will be still connected to your computer.

Corsair Void Pro RGB Wireless

The second most important part about a gaming headset is gonna be its microphone. This microphone does have nice mesh ear cups and sort of the rhombus shape, it will take some time for you to get used to that feeling on your ear as I did. If you will hear the sound which is completely unedited raw, you will feel it’s kind of very tiny and just far away, not the biggest fan of the sound quality whatsoever I am kind of disappointed in the end. But there’s not a lot of wireless gaming headsets at this price range that sounds good or decent, but this is kind of disappointing.

With that being said one of the things that I often bring up in other headset reviews is a mic quality I think it’s gonna be okay if you’re just online talking to your friends in gaming. I definitely wouldn’t recommend doing any voiceovers or it’s like that with this because the mic quality just isn’t up to par where I want to be, if you’re hanging out with these cords getting with your friends or be able to hear you just fine and at the end that’s what it you know the only thing that really shouldn’t matter, I just wish it sounded a little bit better given the iteration of this headset and how much time they’ve had to improve it over the years.

SOUND:

Corsair HS70

The sound of HS70 is amazing. It’s got quite a strong bass but it’s not overpowering and the mids are again are really forward they’re really kind of not in-your-face but you get a real sense of intimacy and closeness which works really well with vocalists. The HS70 has a really nice treble which is quite surprising, usually with gaming headsets the trebles rolled off a bit, with the HS 70 you still get a lot of detail without being too sharp. The HS70 mic is really good. You will hear pretty good clarity and it is pretty decent. It does sound a little bit nasally but on the whole, it’s very usable. The sound is not the best out there, it’s just slightly nasally and slightly thin. So, I would prefer a slightly fuller sound but it gets the job done.

The HS70 is great for music and for gaming like Pub-G and CS: GO, the high-end really help to pick out footsteps in the game, but you still get enough oomph from the base which makes explosions and particularly the red zone in pub-G some really menacing and threatening which really helps the immersion. This headset does as well support virtual 7.1 surround sound and you can turn that on in the Corsair Q software but you lose a lot of detail, the whole sound kind of turns into the kind of messy non-precise version of whatever you’re listening to in the first place. So, for gaming one should prefer using it in stereo mode. However, it is good to have that option there for those who do like virtual 7.1.

Corsair Void Pro RGB Wireless

The sound quality of this headphone is good. It has integrated the Dolby 7.1 surround sound on the void Pro RGB headset and that all come to life when you plug in their Corsair wireless dongle which is pretty much just a wireless receiver that plugs into any USB port on your PC. You just have to download the drivers it will just get connected, there’s no pairing to be done, it’s easy enough. There is a strange thing from the last void headset and it didn’t make any improvements on was you cannot use the void Pro wide at all, so if the battery dies you are Sol, which just really makes sense to me because a lot of these times when companies have a wireless receiving dongle there will be a port to at least connected to whether it’s you know micro-USB connecting it, you have some sort of battery life while it’s charging or there’s no 3.5-millimeter headphone jack on it or on the headset.

When you will start playing some pub G as I usually do almost every day I was rather impressed because I did get a much more wide-open soundstage and it really immersed me even more which is kind of you know hard to say because you’re already very immersed in that game. There was an instance where I was and was sitting outside I knew somebody was in the house next to me I heard footprints so I quickly turned on the Dolby surround sound I was able to pinpoint whether he was on top of the little balcony coming around the backside the front side or if he was still in the room which was really cool once I heard that I was able to pinpoint him where he was raised he came out, I killed him. So, the fact you can’t use this if it is dead kind of a bummer. So with a lot of emulated 7.1 surround sound headsets, the sound quality is severely lacking, that’s because it is always emulated unless there are actually seven individual drivers inside each ear cup. So, nine times out of ten you are getting emulated surround sound in which this one is but even with their last headset that the emulated Dolby surround sound is very good.

WHICH TO BUY?

The build quality of Corsair HS70 headphone is really good, it feels really solid. The aluminum yokes and the metal headband as well give it a really strong sturdy feel. Compared to the void Pro, just feels quite plasticky it’s got a plastic headband it just doesn’t feel as solid or a sturdy part of this I think comes from the rotating hinges which give a bit more play but the overall feeling I just feel like if one of them is gonna break is gonna be the void Pro in terms of fit as well the void Pro is a much looser fit as you can tell it moves around a lot more whereas HS70 is a tighter fit.

So according to my opinion, you should go for Corsair HS70 as the price gap between both the headphones is not much and HS70 is much better than Corsair void pro RGB.

So, as it stands, I have yet to come across a headset that performs as well as the HS70s, with the lovely lows and the crisp highs. The design of them oozes quality and the attention to detail is second to none. With them being wireless, you’re not confined to the reach of the cable you often get of wired headsets, instead, you can roam the house with little interference (I was listening to music 2 storeys below my PC). Sure they cost a pretty penny, but I honestly think they are worth it.

All in all, we were highly pleased by the performance of the HS70. It produced really great sounds for a wireless unit. The bass was enhanced but it isn’t much that it completely overpowers the sounds; instead, it delivers an excellently light boost for that added rumble. We listened to music and everything sounded great, so we’re definitely giving the Corsair HS70 two thumbs-up for its performance.
