DESIGN

Huawei MateBook 13:

It is the nice thing is from the price you get a very classy looking aluminum chassis it feels rigid it looks like a good quality piece it’s understated, design maybe a little Apple influence still to this day and why why usually is with their industrial design but it’s nice enough looking the laptop is a will talk about the metrics.

Huawei MateBook X pro:

For, the design quality thing is exceptional and given its price tag it’s constructed out of aluminum there’s almost no flex when you torque the screen and the keyboard deck has a little bit of flex but it’s quite minor now one of my biggest complaints with the mate book X Pro, was that the finish that they put on top of the aluminum felt like cheap plastic but this feels like a much higher quality device the hinge tension is a little, under stiff side but there’s still some screen wobble when using the touchscreen the only thing we that you might not like is that the logo feels like Shi plastic glued on top of the aluminum but that’s really about it it literally looks and feels like a 12-inch MacBook it’s quite surprising.

WEIGHT & DIMENSIONS

Huawei MateBook 13:

It’s pretty darn thin at 15 millimeters and it’s pretty light 2.86 pounds which is 1.3 kilograms clearly.

Huawei MateBook X pro:

MateBook X Pro weighs 2.9 pounds and measures 0.6 inches thick, making it similar in size and heft to the 3-pound, 0.6-inch.

KEYBOARD AND TOUCHPAD

Huawei MateBook 13:

It’s just imperceptibly it’s a low travel keyboard because it’s a thin product but it still has tactile feel the keyboard has two-stage white backlighting and the trackpads. Microsoft precision and is pretty large particularly it’s pretty wide going across and it works just fine it works nicely as we come to expect with following laptops they do a pretty good job with the trackpad.

Huawei MateBook X pro:

The keyboard is spacious and they used a standard layer without any weird annoyances the key travel is quite short and there’s not a whole lot of response from these switches it feels a lot like the first gen butterfly switches on the Mac books, but with a bit more travel it’s not bad I didn’t have any trouble getting used to it and I can type at my normal typing speed but if you don’t like the MacBook keyboard you might not like these either the only thing it’s missing are media controls but otherwise it’s a good keyboard clean font three-stage white LED backlighting I like the toggle for the function key and there’s also a fingerprint sensor on the top right corner that’s quick and accurate. the trackpad is good but not as good as some of the other premium ultrabooks the surface texture has a fair bit of friction and, I wish it was smoother especially when you need to press down a bit harder for a dragon job but the rest of the trackpad is the usual premium Ultrabook stuff these size is comfortable the clicks feel good and it’s using Windows precision drivers it was skipping quite a bit when I first used it and it was super sensitive but, I dialed down the pointers.

PORT SELECTION

Huawei MateBook 13:

It have two USB sea ports they are not Thunderbolt 3 which is a little disappointing for this price and we have a 3.5 millimeter audio jack now some folks are saying that you get a make dock 2.0 in the box which has a USB a VGA HDMI ours didn’t have it in the box and ours is a review unit so you think they would have included it if it was going to be there so I don’t know if you get that little USB C dock or not.

Huawei MateBook X pro:

So, this laptop only has two USB sea ports one on each side and to make things worse neither of them support Thunderbolt 3 and charging is limited to the left USB C port only it won’t work through the right one the other thing is that DisplayPort is only supported on the right USB C port and it’s just a really bad time with this thing thankfully they do include this adapter with a bunch of different ports on it but what you get off the laptop is quite disappointing to get the bottom panel off you’ll need to rip off the rubber feet so it’s not the easiest thing to upgrade but once you’re in you can upgrade the SSD and the Wi-Fi card if you’re looking to heck intosh this thing the RAM is started on though so that’s not upgradeable.

DISPLAY

Huawei MateBook 13:

3 by 2 aspect ratio display which is pretty popular Microsoft Surface made that popular and it’s good for those of you who like to have more space to scroll your web pages and your, Word documents less so if you’re looking videos because you’ll get black bars on the top and the bottom for 16 by 9 aspect ratio content this is a touchscreen that’s the only option it’s glossy it’s not horribly annoying legal icing but it’s nice to see a touch screen without having to pay extra for it’s also a pretty good display. I am not so fond of is the display brightness setting not the display brightness itself you remember a couple years ago laptops had this whole auto brightness thing going on he had to go to the modern. Windows settings and disable it because it would just bounce the brightness up and down.

Huawei MateBook X pro:

For the such a jaw-dropping display to assist with content consumption that quad speakers make a return tuned by Dolby Atmos Huawei hasn’t really claimed any improvements in audio quality but I do notice them to be far deeper sounding than its predecessor.

BATTERY

Huawei MateBook 13:

For the fast charger which is a good thing it has a 40 1.7 watt hour battery that’s not a huge battery that’s about the smallest than the smaller end.

Huawei MateBook X pro:

41 watt hour battery that lasts about seven and a half hours on a single charge with normal use and they also supply a pretty basic looking USB C charger with a detachable cable so you don’t need to replace the entire thing.

PERFORMANCE

Huawei MateBook 13:

In terms of performance well it’s pretty much the same as every other intel eighth generation whiskey lake ultrabook that we’ve reviewed so far with that little extra boost thanks to the nvidia NX 150 graphics which like i said i’ll give you a little extra love for low end gaming kind of stuff but the cpu performance right on par where we expect to see with its competition to charge this you’re going to use one of the USB ports specifically only the left tour which is unusual most laptops we review you can plug it into any of the USB c charges.

Huawei MateBook X pro:

I don’t like about this computer and it’s actually two things first q’n the nose cam like sure Huawei, I can applaud the genius idea of having a camera that can be easily hidden for security purposes the problem is that the angle is just atrocious and at nearly one megapixel of resolution it’s not like if it’s a great camera either, I seriously don’t even use it at all and to answer your question from last year’s review a great alternative would be the Logitech Brio we’ve got a sleek design that attaches well to the laptop works through USB a and best of all is 4k resolution.

CONCLUSION

Huawei MateBook 13:

I’m not too too worried you could always do a clean install of Windows completely wipe it and delete it and start from scratch this is a Microsoft signature build so it already is a clean bill and it’s not like a going to be loose a lot of extra added software if you did that so that’s the highway mate book 13 and like. I said if you’re looking at this versus the where you can’t even get that nvidia, graphics or the more expensive Razer Blade stealth 10 it’s a pretty good deal honestly but the one thing to consider is huawei’s on mate book X Pro like I said there you get a bit better battery life and you get a USB a port which is pretty.

Huawei MateBook X pro:

I think this is a really good laptop the two biggest complaints that I have with this thing are the ports and the trackpad the trackpad is good but it’s just not smooth so it doesn’t feel great to use right but other than that it comes with a two engine for this exceed Drive at the base model so it’s actually a thousand dollar laptop you get a really sharp and bright touchscreen with thin bezels all around it’s one of the best Ultrabook screens. I’ve seen actually hands-down the best for a thousand bucks but, I feel like the mate book X Pro is they better buy all around like for 200 bucks more you get a bigger brighter screen much better speakers slightly more travel on, the keyboard smoother trackpad better ports and longer battery life so my recommendation is go for the MacBook X Pro if you can afford it it’s a much better product overall but if not this is also a really good option if you’re looking for that thousand dollar premium ultra buck.
