This is the review of the comparison between two keyboards from the same brand popular in the market that is the Logitech. The comparison here is between the Logitech Craft and the Logitech G915. INTRODUCTION:

Logitech Craft

The Logitech Craft keyboard is probably one of the most satisfying scissor-switch type keyboards you will ever type on. This is keyboard is retailing for a higher price range that is for around two hundred dollars currently on Amazon. this speaker does come with a dial called the “Crown”.

Logitech G915

The Logitech G915 is a Lightspeed wireless low-profile mechanical keyboard. We see a lot of companies put out their versions of wireless mechanical keyboards and Logitech responds with their very premium G915 Lightspeed model. this keyboard comes in three different styles and the price on these differs based on the style you prefer.

DESIGN: 

Logitech Craft

When seated on a desk, the Logitech Craft is probably one of my favorite keyboards looks-wise. It’s got that graphite styling, you’ve got rounded edges, it’s just an overall clean look. There are no cables in the way, it’s pretty much a minimalist dream. Even the circular dial, the main selling point of the keyboard is unobtrusive and looks pleasing to the eye.

Key spacing and layout are all great with dedicated buttons for both Windows and Mac, which I’ve loved and you do get some custom buttons here up at the top like a calculator, screen capture, and a few other things that are along the function row. The numbers one, two, and three on this keyboard right there are specials, so they’re designed to actually allow you to quickly switch between devices. For example, if I’m on my PC that’s the one setting or preset, and then let’s say I want to pair my iPad Pro to the second preset, all I have to do is to switch between the two devices is hit the 1 or the 2, and it’s actually very quick.

Logitech G915

Once you get it all to unbox, the keyboard is a full-sized low-profile layout but there are a few extra features and keys. The keyboard itself looks and feels really nice with the brushed aluminum, you even have rounded edges on the side. Aesthetically it looks good, and it feels good. This keyboard is just 22 millimeters thin that is insane once you factor in that they even have mechanical switches into here, so very compact and portable as well.

We have 5 “G” keys for macros or function underneath the illuminated G logo. Up top on the left is 3 “M” keys these are like your memory profiles or pages, then you have “MR” for recording macros on the board. Next to that is your lightspeed wireless connection logo, there’s also the Bluetooth connection logo, the button for disabling windows keys and stuff, and then you have the brightness button right next to that. Then on the right side, you have your dedicated multimedia controls, and a nice scrolling volume wheel. Always nice to see all of these top circular keys are not mechanical valves, they are some sort of rubber.

FEATURES:

Logitech Craft

This is a scissor-switch membrane type keyboard, it’s not a mechanical keyboard, you’re not going to get the most ideal gaming or typing experience on this keyboard. The travel is decent you got about 1.8 millimeters of travel here, it’s nothing crazy high but it’s to be expected for this type of keyboard.

The crown is the amazing little tactile device that’s situated up on the top left of the keyboard and if I turn it, it makes some noise and they call a ratcheting sound and that’s because built into the crown is a mechanical device that gives you tactile feedback, and this can be switched on and off in the software. The crown performs three different functions you can just turn it regularly and that will be one function, you can press in on it and that will be another function, and then you can press in and turn and that would be a third function.

There are three different things you can do with the crown in different applications and they will automatically switch depending on what application you’re in. My favorite application of the crown is actually in Premiere Pro. I have it set up so that if I turn it once just click once to the right, it will advance the frame right and if I click back, it will advance backward, and this is just a really really handy feature for navigating the timeline and even just doing some very specific cuts and edits.

On the back is the micro USB connection, it does come with a cable in case you want to use this wired or use it while you’re charging. So, with the G915, Logitech made their own low-profile mechanical switches “GL” they’re called. I may have three different options in these boards one is the clicky resembling blues and stuff, they also have a tactile version resembling browns, and a linear red version. I’m very happy they went this route with including mechanical switches on this thin low-profile keyboard, to begin with, but also the fact that there are three different options for the consumers to pick from. So, you can pick what’s best for you, and your preference, and again for visual reference. The GL clicky is white, GL tactile is brown, and GL linear is red.

These actually at 1.5 millimeters with a total travel distance of just 2.7 millimeters, so it’s a much shorter travel distance in your standard mechanical key switch that you’ve probably tried in the past. Usually keyboards actually at 2 millimeters with a four-millimeter travel distance, so just altogether here we are getting the slimmest of the slim while not sacrificing anything.

Then we have the RGB lights, and the G Hub software and I have to admit G Hub is probably the most refined and polished software I’ve seen amongst a lot of companies out there. It’s really easy to maneuver and stuff like that, and everything is just laid out right in front of you. For the RGB effects, there are probably 50 plus different ones built-in that you can go and cycle between and customize, change up, so I really like that. Then you have the preset lighting effects those are your more usual ones, the freestyle tab is for the kind of making your own effects and layout, and then there are animations that essentially just add RGB animations to the keyboard. I am really impressed with the wealth of different effects you can add to this.

Then you have the assignments tab for switching up the layout, and what the keys do and stuff as well as assigning those 5 G keys so like the macros on the left side of the board, and again with M1, M2, and M3 essentially being different profiles, you can have five different ones for each of those three. You can also enable G shift and then assign what those macros are against. Lastly is like a tab for disabling the Windows key or which Keys you want to disable while you’re gaming.

PERFORMANCE:

Logitech Craft

I haven’t been able to notice any discernable lag either from the Logitech unifying receiver that comes with the keyboard or just through its plain Bluetooth mode, which is excellent. I haven’t noticed any disconnection issues in my particular unit. The battery life on the Craft is good in some ways and bad in others. If you’re using it with the backlighting on, you’re actually gonna get about a week or less which is not that great but if you’re using it with the backlight off like I do you get months easily.

The crown does get a little annoying when you’re switching applications though. For example, if I’m just on my regular desktop or I’m just browsing Chrome or something like, that I normally have it set to change volume so that’s what I’m doing the most with the crown. If I switch it to Premiere Pro or I switch into After Effects or some other program and I turn it and that program has a specific profile already set up for it and it’s doing something different than changing the volume, it’s just something I’ll have to get used to.

Logitech G915

For the Lightspeed wireless connection, you can see the little logo they have there on top of the keyboard, it is a 1-millisecond response. This is used on the previous peripherals and stuff, and it’s trusted in the gaming community. Their G Pro mouse and G502 Lightspeed, all have this and there’s just literally zero noticeable lag like I’ve had no issues whatsoever when I was gaming. This is wireless and you definitely wouldn’t be able to tell there is a lag with this, so always good to have that trusted reliable connection and a wireless keyboard. In terms of battery life, often a big concern with wireless keyboards this boasts 30 hours at a hundred percent brightness.

This is the best low-profile mechanical wireless RGB keyboard on the market. There are no sacrifices to build quality, it’s very durable, I love the rounded edges with the brushed aluminum, looks really nice, feels really premium as well, we also have the mechanical key switches, we have three different options as well, the improved battery life of 30 hours at 100% brightness, and you also get the things like the multimedia controls, the volume wheel, and the macros.

WHICH TO BUY?

If you want a keyboard that has a minimalistic design, if you are a person who uses a lot of productivity apps like video editing and stuff like that and you want a good keyboard for productive use then the Logitech craft keyboard is good for you to buy. If you’re not the kind of person that spends hours inside of video editing apps but you are more into gaming and if you want a good gaming keyboard, then you should buy the Logitech G915 Lightspeed keyboard.
