Detailed Review

INTRODUCTION:

Logitech G603 Lightspeed

This is the most hard-core wireless mouse that I’ve ever seen but it’s not the most hardcore gaming mouse that I’ve ever seen. It comes pretty close though and it feels really good.

Logitech G703 Lightspeed

This mouse feels like a G303 mouse but with wireless connectivity and some improvements. Also, I think most of the gripes of people are solved in this mouse, so this will be good to use for almost everyone.

DESIGN & BUILD:

Logitech G603 Lightspeed

The unibody design has a nice aesthetic to it. A lot of people like the separation on the top for the extra buttons for faster responsiveness. The dimensions of this mouse are 124 by 68 by 43 in millimeters. You get to two side buttons, they’re bigger than a lot of the ones but they’re right above with your where your thumbs gonna rest in either palm or claw grip. So, they’re in a good spot your. The two buttons on top are Omron switches which claimed to be in 20 million clicks. The scroll wheel is typical Logitech quality, it’s just good.

Logitech G703 Lightspeed

In the box, you’ll get the G703 mouse which carries the same shape, the same dimensions, the same colors. On the outside, it looks like the same Mouse. Also in the box, they have a braided charging cable. I don’t think that these braided cables work well than the non-braided one.

The G703 is a right-handed mouse, it’s got that ergo design where it has grooves on the right side and the left side to kind of force your hands into a more comfortable position even though the shape and dimensions are the same. This mouse is actually twelve grams lighter than the original G703 which doesn’t have a Hero sensor. So now, instead of 107 grams, you are now down 12 grams to 95 grams which are greatly appreciated and I think this makes this Mouse the G703 which has a Hero sensor, a lot more viable for a lot of people. The side grips are some of the best in the game if not the best. So, when you have a mouse that’s 95 grams having amazing side grips really helps to negate some of that weight. If you have a heavy Mouse and then a slippery Mouse at the same time, you’re done for.

This mouse works best with claw grip because that hump really shoots your palm and then your fingers come down on the mouse one and two and the front of the mouse. So, for palm grip users out there I have a solution for all of you that have tried this mouse and it wasn’t comfortable. What you should do is put the top 25% of hand on the G and then your hand kind of drapes over the back. I find that a 1-3-1 grip really works well with this mouse and you have that right ledge on the right side where you can rest your ring finger a little bit and then get a very precise aim with it. So, I tried it this way and I’ve had amazing results. I can game with this mouse for hours and it is super comfortable.

You can use fingertip grip as well with this mouse but it’s not ideal because it has such a huge groove on the left side. This is more of a claw or palm grip in my opinion and it is a medium-sized Mouse. So, it’ll work for a lot of people and if you have large hands, you can make it work as well with the grip that I stated earlier.

FEATURES & PERFORMANCE:

Logitech G603 Lightspeed

What probably is most important- the sensor and what’s interesting in their wireless mouse, while they’re using their Hero sensor and they’ve improved the efficiency on this Hero sensor, so that it has a very low power draw which is something you’ll need since this is a wireless mouse. Now, this one goes from 200 to 12000 dpi and they have by default kept it to around 3200, you can go into the software and bring it all the way up to 12,000. This sensor is based on 3366 and it’s an infrared sensor. So, it’s not a laser but that gives you really good tracking performance with little to no acceleration, there’s pretty much no acceleration in this mouse. This sensor also passes pretty much all the tests, the accelerations 40G, you can do the slam tilt if you’re someone who plays at 10 DPI and counter-strike.

It comes with a little USB adapter in the box and now this is their light-speed technology, 1 millisecond response time and you’re not really gonna notice the difference in this cord but there’s literally no discernible difference. This goes all the way up to a 1000 Hertz, so that’s pretty cool but if you’re someone who wants to plug it up to a laptop or an Android device, you can do that too.

On the back of the mouse, you have a little button that switches between their light speed technology and Bluetooth. Also, you’ll notice that there’s high and low setting over there and that is gonna be for your response rate over the USB device. If you put on high, you’re getting a thousand or if you put it on low, you’re getting 125 which makes the games feel a little weird, when I was playing it felt kind of like acceleration. So, you’re gonna wanna play most of your FPS games or you’re playing an RTS or even a MOBA or you’re just browsing the internet, just put it in low.

Logitech G703 Lightspeed

The clicks of these buttons have to be one of the best on the market. It’s not so light that you’re gonna miss press it but they’re so light that you can click it with ease. They’ve also got gigantic two side buttons on the side. You will really like the side button. This is the one thing that I love about the G703 is how easy it is to hit these side buttons. The scroll wheel in the past with the old G403, there’s a lot of rattles but there’s no rattle here. This one is nice and clicky. I do wish when scrolling the scroll wheel that it was a little bit more defined, it’s a little bit too fast. On top of the mouse, you’re gonna have the DPI button where you can switch your DPI on-the-fly.

The 16000 DPI of the Hero sensor can be changed in the Logitech software. It also has a place where you can change the buttons and customize those as well. You can also customize the RGB on the mouse.

Not only does the hero perform amazingly in-game but it also performs on every single surface that you can imagine. So, I can aim well with this Mouse. I feel like I have total control and that Wireless, side grip, the sensor, and everything just clicks on all cylinders with this Mouse.

BATTERY:

Logitech G603 Lightspeed

With high battery mode, 500 hours of non-stop gaming, and in low mode, 18 months that’s pretty cool but it’s a little bit heavy with two batteries on the inside. The top comes off really easily but it doesn’t feel flimsy. Once you get under the mouse if one of these batteries dies or if you take one out at any time, the light stays on and I think most people are gonna be playing this with one battery because the weight is 112 grams versus 135, so it’s a little bit more manageable. if you want a heavier mouse though put two batteries in there but it’s up to you.

Logitech G703 Lightspeed

This new Hero sensor is also more power-efficient, so you get 35 hours over the old 24 hours of the original G703. You can also use this with the power play pad but I haven’t had the best experience with it because the cloth kind of comes up from the plastic. Also for 35 hours, you won’t have to charge this that often anyway. So, I think you’ll be good with just going with the mouse and charging it the normal way and using the mousepad of your choice that’s gonna last you a long time.

WHICH TO BUY?

Both the mouse is good to use even for long hours. The G603 design makes you feel comfortable while using it and also it has many features considering the price. The G703 mouse will be good to use to any of you out there that’s a claw or palm grip user with medium to large hands. Considering the weight of the mouse, I think shape and grip really take a back seat but Logitech has done a lot right with this mouse.

In my opinion, both are good for gaming but the price gap is huge which is about $30. The Logitech G703 is something modern in all the features but the G603 is a little bit outdated but still, it performs well in gaming. If you want to buy one of these mice, consider your budget and the features you want.

And that’s one of the keys to the Logitech G703 gaming mouse: it’s so flexible, and so easily switchable between modes. It exhibits all the mousy goodness one could want. However, while I’m neither here nor there about whether my mouse is wireless or wired, if you’re keen on being untethered, I’d recommend getting the PowerPlay pad as well.
