INTRODUCTION:

Logitech G903 Lightspeed

Most of us had three key features and they were all required. We need the mouse to have the ability to switch between the gaming PC and the MacBook with ease. Also, require that it needs to be wireless. The last one is it needed to be a not only a great productivity mouse but a great mouse for gaming. So, natural selection will be this the Logitech G903 Lightspeed.

Logitech G603 Lightspeed

This is a budget wireless mouse with some decent features in it. As the design of the mouse is so simple, the comfort is good and the grip is also good enough. 

DESIGN & COMFORT:

Out of the box, I was quite surprised at the weight it comes in at 110 grams. Therefore, a competitor’s mouse, this is on the heavier side but it doesn’t necessarily feel as if it would end in any kind of gameplay, at least for myself.

Aesthetically, it does look great especially with the hint of RGB coloring popping through the Logitech logo. I’ve never really cared for over-the-top RGB, so the subtleness of the lighting here is very desired.

I do have larger hands, so my grip is a bit awkward in the sense that I need to almost tuck my pinkie up a bit. So, it’s not dragging so much on the mouse mat. While it’s an easy adjustment, some may find it a bit cumbersome since the mouse is slightly skinnier in comparison to others on the market.

More in-depth with the build quality, it’s quite impressive. The tolerances on this thing are insanely tight and nothing wiggles around when it isn’t supposed to. The buttons feel high-quality and precise when clicked, unlike some mice which have a cheap or kind of mushy quality to them. The scroll wheel is a tactile plastic/rubber, I’m not really sure what to call it but it feels nice. It’s also pretty thick in case you have fat fingers.

The construction is unlike any mouse I’ve seen. The entire top of it is held on with magnets and you just pop it off to replace the batteries. There’s also a little slot inside to put the light speed on little during transport. I think, it has a nice weight but if you want a lighter mouse or a different weight distribution, you can just run it on one battery, you might think that would severely handicap the battery life but that’s really not the case. It will, of course, have your usage time.

Inside the box, you received the mouse itself. At first glance, it looks very futuristic. You’ll also receive the charging cord and the USB receiver as well as an accessory kit, it houses the ambidextrous buttons and weight if you plan to use them. I just opted to leave them in the packaging.

This mouse is ambidextrous, the left thumb buttons are removable and are held on by strong magnets and then the accessory box there are an additional two buttons if you wish to place them on the right. There are 11 programmable buttons, all are customizable. So, you can use each and every button as per your likes.

One of the biggest complaints the Logitech G903 is within the USB receiver. I’ve noticed, you need to be within roughly two to three feet to have optimal performance while you’re gaming. So, making sure the USB receiver is within arm’s reach is very critical.

Now for all your nerds out there check it, this mouse has a hero sensor. You can customize your DPI settings between 200 and 16,000 and it’s extremely durable for up to 50 million clicks. The performance of the mouse in gaming is just amazing and nice. The responsiveness and the accuracy are awesome, you will like this mouse a lot. 

Logitech G603 Lightspeed

This is one of the earlier mice to use Logitech’s new lightspeed wireless technology. This allows it to operate lag-free while still retaining the freedom of a wireless mouse. Light speed requires a USB dongle but one of the unique features about this mouse is it can also operate over Bluetooth, a feature uncommon on serious gaming-oriented products. Making it a nice choice for a mobile mouse, that’s one of the reasons I got it, Most wireless mouse, especially those that operate on Bluetooth are simply low quality, gaming-oriented wise at least in the case of Logitech seem to be of a bit higher quality than generic mice. They just feel right.

There’s a button on top for switching the DPI settings, it changes colors based upon which preset you have it assigned to. You can remap this button and any other button on the mouse to do whatever you want but I leave it as the DPI switcher. There are also two side buttons meant for forwards and backward functions but again, these can be set to do whatever you want and they can be saved on the device.

The headline feature of this mouse aside from the battery life of course is Logitech slight speed wireless technology. Most of the time when you hear claims of a lag-free wireless experience, it’s usually marketing but this isn’t the case here. It’s quite good and I don’t think, I have a reason to ever use a wired mouse again. There is no perceptible difference between this and wired, that’s as technical as I’m going to get with it but I think it is genuinely good. If you use it as a Bluetooth mouse, expect it to perform like a $20.00 Walmart Mouse that’s not really the fault of the mouse itself, more so the limitations of Bluetooth. It does work though and it works as well as any other Bluetooth mouse.

BATTERY:

Battery life is something I was quite concerned about going into the mouse but after my testing, I was able to get roughly 24 hours with these LED lights turned on from one single charge. I turned off the LED lights, I was able to get around 26 hours which is quite a bit less than Logitech claims you can get with no LED lights turned on.

Logitech G603 Lightspeed

The battery life on this thing is pretty incredible compared to most of its competition. In performance mode which is a thousand Hertz polling rate is ready to run for 500 hours straight and going off the results, I’ve had so far, I believe that. There’s also an endurance mode which extends the battery life. It’s ready to run 18 months but do you take an account that’s assuming average usage during those 18 months.

SOFTWARE:

Logitech G903 Lightspeed

There are 11 programmable buttons, so you can use those buttons as whatever you want. You have many options for customizations of those buttons. You can also change the profits and you have five options means profiles in that. Also, you can set RGB lighting, as this is premium gaming mouse, there are lots of RGB options placed in the software. For all these, you have download Logitech G Hub software.

Logitech G603 Lightspeed

One thing to note, Logitech gaming software will not recognize it in Bluetooth mode. It needs to be connected via lightspeed to program it or to do whatever else you want to do with Logitech Gaming software.

Logitech Gaming software is where you can adjust your DPI presets, adjust the polling rate, change the buttons around, and program the onboard preset that means you could program it to work a certain way and then use it on another computer without Logitech software and all your buttons and dpi settings will still be on the device. Even if you’re running it over Bluetooth, those button presets will still persist.

WHICH TO BUY?

Both the mice work well and great as per their price. In my opinion, for $70 the G603 will be a great mouse as this is wireless and has many decent features. Even though the G603 doesn’t have as many features and functions as G903 lightspeed, its a great budget wireless mouse. If you have a budget of about $100, then G903 will be great to buy because it has so many options and features.
