Detail Review:
INTRODUCTION:
Logitech MX Anywhere 2
This is an older version of MX Anywhere 2S mouse. This mouse is more popular for travel and its portability. The features are also nice and work well. This is a productivity mouse and great for that work.
Logitech MX Anywhere 2S
A portable external mouse is a great alternative for a laptop subpar trackpad system and just for traveling in general with your laptop, maybe even to go to a cafe. The question is which one is suitably ideal for you. This is about the MX Anywhere 2S by Logitech and if you are looking for a compact wireless mouse that is still great for productivity then this might be it.
DESIGN & COMFORT:
Logitech MX Anywhere 2
This is a pretty small mouse depending on what you’re coming up from. It’s 3.4 millimeters tall, it’s 61.6 millimeters long, and it’s about 100 millimeters wide. Now that Anywhere 2 mouse is pretty light, it only weighs 100 grams.
The design is pretty sleek, it has this matte finish which is really nice in the hand. It’s very comfortable, I don’t know how well that will hold up over time, it does seem like it will get scuffed easily but I haven’t really noticed that yet in my use and travels.
How happy you are with this mouse really depends on how big your hands are and what you’re already used to in terms of mice. So, you’re already using a larger mouse and you’re used to having your hand arch like that in a comfortable position, then MX Anywhere 2 mouse is not going to do a really good job. It’s probably going to make you uncomfortable after a while of use. For shorter travel trips, so if you’re just using this when you’re traveling for a business trip or if you don’t travel too frequently, then it’s going to be probably just enough but for a daily driver for people with large hands who are used to a large mouse, then it’s not going to be ideal.
Logitech MX Anywhere 2S
The mouse sports a low-profile and compact design and while it doesn’t film my palm completely, it is still a comfortable experience. The mouse can also be used for those who are left-handed. The plastic rubberized grip on the sides feels smooth even though more stickiness for a more secure feel would have been nice.
FEATURES & PERFORMANCE:
Logitech MX Anywhere 2
There’s not a lot that comes out of the box. You’ve got the charging cable, you’ve got the mouse itself, and you’ve got this little receiver which you can use if your device doesn’t happen to have Bluetooth and when you’re unboxing the mouse, don’t forget to take the little receiver that’s just hidden on the top flap. If you have Bluetooth built-in to your laptop already, then you don’t need to plug in this extra receiver. Now, since this is a mouse designed for travel, it would have been nice if Logitech had included a case or a sleeve with it but they don’t.
This mouse is pretty easy to set up and configure. You just turn it on, connect via Bluetooth and it allows three different settings, so you can pair this with three different devices at once. The laser points are built into the mouse and are also designed to be very precise and work on all sorts of surfaces including glass.
Now, based on how well the pads on the bottom which has the scratches and scuffs that have already accumulated and I’ve only used this on a mousepad surface shoutout to glorious gaming PC mouse pads but considering that I’ve only used this on a mousepad and it’s got these little scratches, I’d probably recommend just sticking to a mousepad even when you’re traveling and I would be wary of putting this on too many different surfaces. They’re designed to protect the mouse but it just still feels like it’s getting more wear and tear than it should be.
You’ve got the scroll button here and with a hard press you can turn that from a smooth scroll to a clicky scroll and you’ve got this other button on the top, you can use to set all sorts of actions like showing the desktop, or maybe going forward, or backward in a webpage. On the side, you have these two buttons that are also configurable but the default is forward and backward. So, when you do web browsing, you can go forward on a page or back on a page.
For me personally, I found these buttons to be just a little bit too far back to be comfortable and I don’t have very large hands, so if you have large hands that’s probably gonna be more of an issue, it’s not gonna be super comfortable and I found that I’m not using these buttons very often at all. The scroll button though I do use a lot where I can move the scroll button left or right, and those motions can also be configured for all sorts of actions.
For my personal use, I really like the tactility of the buttons, how clicky they were, how precise they were. I also really like that you can set the different types of motion and sensitivity. It’s a highly configurable and portable mouse. It works great on airplane tray tables and all sorts of surfaces and if your hands are small enough, it just might be a daily driver for you.
Maybe, you’ll hear a lot of complaints that this mouse doesn’t really hold up over time. It starts to have mechanical issues, software issues, connection issues, and so on. So, in my use, I didn’t encounter any troubles.
Logitech MX Anywhere 2S
Under the mouse is the power slider and the easy switch button which allows you to pair up to three computers through Bluetooth. Now, going through the buttons, we have the hyper scroll wheel which lets you scroll through documents incredibly fast and by clicking the scroll wheel, you switch to a more traditional click to click scrolling experience. You can move the scroll wheel left and right to move the document or web page horizontally.
On the left side, we have the forward and back buttons which are very responsive and tactile, they actually are very good feeling. There is also the gesture button which allows you to open the task view, so you can switch between applications and windows on the fly which is a very useful feature.
Now, another interesting feature that I know you’ll all love is the Logitech flow which allows you to effortlessly navigate across up to three computers and copy and paste images and files between them. The mouse uses the darkfield laser sensor which costs it to flawlessly work on different surfaces, even transparent glass. The DPI is set up to a maximum of 4000 which means greater precision and sensitivity during normal use.
You can connect to your computer through Bluetooth or using the included Logitech unifying USB receiver. Through my use overall, I haven’t found anything bad about this mouse. It is comfortable and for those of you who have productivity mice and want nice simple gestures like navigation of your computers, then this is perfect for you.
BATTERY:
Logitech MX Anywhere 2
It has a built-in battery. You can’t change the battery but it’s rechargeable. It’s designed to last about two months and it takes about an hour to charge it back full through micro-USB but if you’re on the run and the battery dies, you can charge it up to about an hour of use with about one minute plugged in.
There are two ways to tell how much battery life you have left. The first is in the software, there’s a little indicator in the bottom. So, when you open up the Logitech software, you can get an idea of how much battery life is left. This indicator light on the top will flash green when it’s charged, it will flash yellow when it’s running low, it will start flashing red when it’s really low, and when it’s just pretty much dead it will be a solid red.
Logitech MX Anywhere 2S
The mouse is charged via the micro-USB port at the front and supposedly holds a charge for up to 70 days. You can get a full day’s charge from just a four-minute charging session.
SOFTWARE:
Logitech MX Anywhere 2
Now, this mouse is very configurable and you really want to download the Logitech software that comes with this mouse. There’s no software obviously or USB Drive inside the box but you really want to get that software installed, so you can make the most out of this mouse that allows you to configure all of these buttons.
Now, one thing I want to mention for Mac users is when you install the Logitech software, you’re gonna want to give it accessibility permissions. Otherwise, the scrolling is going to stop working and it might take you a little bit to figure out why that’s happened, it’s because you haven’t given it accessibility permissions but it’s pretty simple.
Logitech MX Anywhere 2S
The highlight of this mouse is indeed the software. Through this, you can customize each of the buttons on the mouse to do a different function. The gesture button, for example, can be assigned to perform a change in the pointer speed or even opening a specific app.
You can even customize the buttons to perform certain functions when you are using a specific application. For example, I assign the forward and back buttons to function as copy and paste respectively when I’m using Microsoft Word. When I leave it and go back to Chrome, they automatically return to functioning as forward and backward when going through web pages. Through the software, you can also change the pointer speed and set the scroll wheel direction.
WHICH TO BUY?
In my opinion, I think the MX Anywhere 2S will better than the MX Anywhere 2 mouse. The reason is MX Anywhere 2S is an advanced version of Anywhere 2 and the price is almost the same and there also many improvements than MX Anywhere 2.

The MX Anywhere 2S is not a revolution in portable work mouse design: it is more of a thoughtful and planned evolution. The Flow feature is a highlight that will be useful for workaholics juggling multiple systems on the go. The fundamentals were already solid on the earlier iteration, and Logitech has managed to improve on those with the Anywhere 2S. To be honest, unless you’re going to take advantage of the Logitech FLOW technology, then it’s not worth the upgrade from its predecessor. However, for someone who uses a MacBook Air and a Windows desktop and don’t have enough screen real estate to work with, the Logitech FLOW does indeed work. Functionality, pretty much similar to Symless’s Synergy, but more elegant.
