INTRODUCTION:
Turtle Beach Recon 70
The design of this headset is very simple and for this price, we can only expect that much. The headset is also comfortable but there’s not plenty of padding. The sound quality of the mic and the headphone is also worth this price.
Turtle Beach Recon 200
This is a budget-friendly headset and also with that giving some good features and sound quality. The design is good and attractive for game players. The headset is also comfortable.
DESIGN:
Turtle Beach Recon 70
This kind of design brings me back a little bit to the old Turtle Beach style. The arm in the sides of the headset is plastic and inside of it is plastic as well. There’s no metal in the whole headset. You might want to be a little more careful with this headset because it’s all plastic.
Turtle Beach Recon 200
It’s actually quite a nice design. Recon 200 comes in black and white colors. These were actually quite good and I was very impressed with them because when I was working in gaming retail I never recommended Turtle Beach because they would always come back-breaking. So, when I got there I was actually quite impressed with how sturdy they are. So, it’s good to see that they have up to their design and this design is actually quite nice.
The design is actually quite nice, so you’ve got Turtle Beach engraved on the top and you put the Turtle Beach logos on the sides as well as the microphone. You’ve got these spray plastic parts for your extension.
COMFORT:
Turtle Beach Recon 70
They are comfortable, they’re extremely light. When you put them on your head like it’s just that perfect fit, it’s not too tight it’s not too lose it is right there as far as comfort. You adjust the headset on the side just like that it just pulls up and you have your clicks in between right there.
You have plenty of motion within the ear cups like that go in and out and then you can fold a flat back there, so whatever shape a head, glasses, or anything, they’re gonna fit you perfect.
Now, you do just have that little padding on the top up there but honestly, it’s perfect. It’s just enough, it grips on the side of your head and then rests right up there and you almost forget that it’s on your head.
Turtle Beach Recon 200
The ear cups are quite comfortable as well. So, they do have the leather material on the ear cup. They are an oval shape as well. So, they’ll fit over your ear rather than sitting on top of your ear. I wear glasses as well and I don’t find any issue wearing them with glasses. They stretch pretty wide as well.
On the inside, you do have a soft cushion at the top, so it’s not too hard on your head. I feel like over a long period of time, it might start to hit my head because it doesn’t have that ultimate comfort to it but nonetheless it’s still a pretty good headset.
FEATURES:
Turtle Beach Recon 70
If you look at the box, it says for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. Now, this headset comes in black and green, white and green, blue and black, white and black, black and red, and each of the color schemes is for the console. Obviously, the green for Xbox, the Blue for PlayStation.
They are all 3.5, so they are all gonna work across every single platform. You can plug this into your Xbox controller, PlayStation controller, PC, or your Nintendo switch, so just get whatever a stinking color you like. You have your volume rocker on the bottom of the earcup that’s really the only control on it.
Turtle Beach Recon 200
It is a multi-platform headset, so you can use this on your Nintendo switch, on your Xbox One, your ps4, and also for mobile devices and it will work on PC as well. There’s no issue with playing it on any other platform is amazing, it has just your normal frequent five millimeter Jack.
It is a wired headset, so you’d expect to just plug in your 3.5-millimeter jack into your controller and go from that but this does come with a micro USB charge cable. There is a port on the headset where you actually have to charge it before you use it. Following that charge port, you do have a bunch of buttons on here. So, you’ve got a charge port, power button, and a couple of volume controls. The power button above the charge port is where you can flick it to ps4 or Xbox, however, it won’t matter which one you flick it on if you’re using it for Nintendo Switch or your phone that’s pretty straightforward. Above that is your mic volume control and your game sound volume control, so normal stereo headsets sound.
The mic volume control, if you turn it up and you’re gonna hear yourself through the microphone into the earphone, so that is pretty similar to the Blue Yeti microphone. So, you have the option to turn that volume down which is really good, and then above that is your sound volume. They are just the scrolling buttons on here.
MICROPHONE:
Turtle Beach Recon 70
Now, as far as the mic, it is flip up to mute. There are no controls on this headset. The only control on the back in the headset is the volume. There’s no voice chat, no mic monitoring, and anything like. You can probably adjust all that stuff within your system you’re using whether it be Xbox or any other consoles. In the point of view of mic quality, it’s not the best but honestly, in my opinion, for $39 headset, I think it passes.
Turtle Beach Recon 200
On the side of the earcup, there is your microphone and it is a flip-down mic, flip up to mute. What I like about this is actually how small it is but it still is really clear when you talk. I tested this mic with the ps4, the mic is really clear. Everybody told me about that quality, I was really impressed with that feedback.
I do like them is a short mic. It’s not too in-your-face, it’s just good to sit to the side and not have a big chunky mic in your face.
SOUND:
Turtle Beach Recon 70
I tested this headset across every device. It didn’t sound good on the PC. To be honest with you, I was a little disappointed. I just couldn’t get them really loud enough. the sound quality was fine but I just couldn’t get them loud enough and that’s going through all my PC settings and then within the headset as well right.
When we went to the Nintendo switch, they sounded fantastic. I mean they sounded really good, I was very shocked with it especially for the price. Also with the PlayStation, it sounds pretty good.
Turtle Beach Recon 200
It has a really good sound quality which I was quite surprised. The bass boost is clear and decent. Every sound like low-frequency sound and high-end sound and everything id pretty good in this headset.
I don’t have any complaints about the sound of the headset. You can easily use this for gaming and listen to music and for watching movies and so on. For this price range, everything pretty nice including the sound of the headset.
WHICH TO BUY?
I will recommend Recommend Turtle Beach Recon 200 to buy. The reason why I choose Recon 200 but not Recon 70 is even though the Recon 70 is a lower price than the other one, this one is not better than that one, I mean, Recon 200. The sound quality and every other features of Recon 200 is better than Recon 70.
