Ultimate Ears Boom 2

The UE Boom 2 is the successor to one of the best portable Bluetooth speakers in the market the original UE Boom. This speaker is retailing for around a hundred and twenty dollars. At 120$ it’s a solid speaker to definitely to pick up as it has great audio, a great performance, very durable, and something you take with you anywhere.

Ultimate Ears Boom 3

The Ultimate Ears from Logitech produce many Bluetooth speakers and none of them disappointed us. The Boom 3 from the Ultimate Ears is the updated version Bluetooth speaker from the Boom line-up. The retail price on these is around a hundred and fifty dollars but these are currently retailing for around a hundred and twenty dollars.

DESIGN: 

Ultimate Ears Boom 2

The design is pretty much the same as the original UE Boom. They have tightened up the fabric that goes around the outside of the speaker. One of its signature features is that the audio comes out from 360 degrees, so you can just set it up on the table and the audio will be evenly distributed throughout. One thing I really like about the form factor of the UE Boom 2 is also the fact that it fits in a cup holder, so you could take it in the car and listen to music if your car’s speakers aren’t that good.

It’s got the volume keys on the front, on the top you have a power button and Bluetooth button is also there, and at the bottom, you do have you covered connectivity ports. So, you do have one port for actually connecting the 3.5 mm jack, and the second one is a micro USB port to charge this up.

The outer part of the Boom is made of two-toned fabric, which makes these look great and also gives a nice grip to us to hold this in our hand. These are also dust-proof and water-proof, so even when they look rugged, they don’t look bad. They are built to be robust so they are convenient to use during travel. Compared to its predecessors, there’s nothing changed much only its style changed a little bit.

As far as the button controls, on the top of this speaker, you have your Bluetooth pairing button, then the magic button, and the power button. On the side, you have your huge plus and minus button for volume up and down. The backside of the speaker has a rubber strap where there is Ultimate Ears log and at its bottom, there is a flap that flips open. Inside that flap, there will be a micro USB Charging slot and there is an LED indicator too.

Ultimate Ears Boom 2

The UE Boom 2 has packed up a bunch of features it is shockproof, waterproof IPX7 rated, you can pair it with another UE Boom 2 speaker, UE Roll, UE Megaboom, and a couple of those there. The Boom 2 retails for the same price as the original one and I like that because UE promises good battery life, louder sound with this, which will take a listen to but also they also emphasize that it’s shockproof.

The UE Boom 2 brought a lot of new features and from the outside, it may seem almost identical to the previous model but the audio quality in this is much better and that is noticeable right out of the box. It is also waterproof gives you 15 hours of battery life, and also 100 feet of wireless Bluetooth range. You also have the option to connect via NFC as well. The Bluetooth connectivity works very well, and it is that a form factor that I actually prefer over the Megaboom. I can just slap it in my backpack and it doesn’t weigh too much, the battery life is absolutely impressive, it is also durable under all conditions and I think it looks great as well.

The UE Boom 2 also has some gesture commands where if you tap on the top once it will pause or play a song, and if you tap on it two times it will skip to the next song. The UE Boom app gives you a lot of features that let you take advantage of the speaker and its abilities. First, you are able to double up, it also gives you a battery indicator and the equalizer settings you can play around with, and you can also set this as your alarm clock if you would like. Through the settings page, it will show you how to use some of the specific features of this speaker as well as enabling and disabling certain features. But most importantly, you can also push software updates to the speaker itself from the app. It’s great to know that Ultimate Ears is constantly pursuing different improvements to the speaker over time.

Ultimate Ears Boom 3

The box comes in a nice presentation and there is nice artwork on the box same as other Ultimate Ears boxes. Inside the box, you got your speaker themselves, micro USB charging cable, charging brick, and usual books, and a quick start-up guide. These are dustproof and waterproof and also these float in the water. As far as the battery life, these have a very long battery life of 15 hours. so, if you are a traveler who loves to travel around then you gonna love this speaker. 

There is also a great feature included in this speaker that is the party link-up with this particular model as well across the UE range. If you find any of your friends and families having any of the speakers like Boom one, two, or three, or Megabooms, then you can link them up with their speakers and again go back to the 360 audio and have a great sound experience. These are also drop-proof up to 1.5 meters as the Ultimate Ears claims which means if you drop these down on the floor from 1.5 meters it would not break.

SOUND QUALITY:

Ultimate Ears Boom 2

The UE Boom 2 is a very good portable speaker system and a good successor to the original UE Boom. They haven’t added much but I think there really isn’t much to actually do to enhance this. You can add more EQs and things like that in the application but the speaker itself is very good. I like the increase in the audio fidelity they’ve added into it and also I do love the simplicity they’ve kept. The sound is very well-balanced, the highs being very audible but most of all there was a pretty good amount of bass as well.

Ultimate Ears Boom 3

I tested out the sound quality on the Ultimate Ears Boom 3 with the maxim volume and also I tested these out with a bunch of different music from different genres. By my test, I felt like the bass is somewhat lacking in these but the highs and the mids were really good. These have got 360 degrees spatial sound effect so wherever you place this and in whatever direction you place this, this gonna sound the same and equally.

WHICH TO BUY?

In my opinion, you should buy the Boom 3 if you don’t have any of its predecessors already because if you buy it when you have any of its predecessors then it will be just a waste of your money. If you have a lower budget, then you can go for the Boom 2 because it’s still good because there is not any huge difference between the Boom 2 and the Boom 3 in terms of sound quality.
