This is the review of the comparison between the Ultimate Ears Hyperboom and the JBL PartyBox 300. Both of these speakers are Bluetooth speakers but from different brands. Ultimate Ears Hyperboom

The Hyperboom is the latest model Bluetooth speaker from Ultimate Ears. These sounds incredibly loud and have booming and punching heavy bass. These are one of the Bluetooth speaker in the market that is more among the higher price range. These speakers are retailing for around four hundred dollars.

JBL PartyBox 300

The JBL PartyBox 300 is the updated version Bluetooth speaker of PartyBox 200 but it these almost looks the same and also sounds the same. As its name defines, these Bluetooth speakers are specially designed for parties. These speakers from JBL are also among the higher price range which retails for around  four hundred and fifty dollars.

Ultimate Ears Hyperboom

Ultimate Ears the makers behind the Boom, and the Megaboom, have emerged with a brand new heavyweight tank of a speaker the Hyperboom. It stands at 14.3 inches tall since its square-shaped has a width and depth of 7.5 inches and weighs in at 13 pounds. While it may be beefy for some, it’s easy to carry thanks to its easy to pull out rubber handle. Underneath that handle, we find the connections which offer a great deal of variety and make the speaker versatile.

You have the DC power connection, where you can either keep it plugged in or charge it as the unit is rechargeable up to 24 hours. With the aux input, you could possibly use it as a computer speaker, the optical input allows you to use it as a makeshift soundbar, and finally the USB charge out port allows you to charge your phone. On the top of the unit, we find four main sections a giant plus and minus button control the volume, and when pressed together tell you the battery percentage left. There’s a power button on one end with the source inputs on the opposite. one and two are to switch between Bluetooth devices, the circle is to select aux, and the square to select your optical input.

JBL PartyBox 300

For size comparison, the Boombox is a lot smaller and a lot lighter but the PartyBox 300 is extremely heavy it’s about 40 pounds. On the front of the speaker, you got a nice metal mesh grill, you got two 6.5 inch woofers, three 2.5 inch tweeters, RGB lights built into the speakers, and four strobe lights. On the top of the speaker, you got a nice carrying handle with some rubber grips in it. On the side there will be all your buttons, so you got bass boosts, you got play-pause, volume up and down, your light show controls, bluetooth pairing, your power button, and your five LEDs.

On the other side, you got JBL Brandon with four rubber stoppers. On the bottom, you get another carrying handle with the same rubber grips inside, and you got four rubber stoppers. So you can place this speaker either vertically or horizontally. On the another side again same JBL Brandon with another four rubber stoppers. On the back of the speaker, you got your DC power for in the house and for in the car, you got a 5 volt 2.1 amp USB in and out so if you got a USB stick you can plug it in right there and play music directly from it or you could charge a phone, tablet, camera, whatever you got.

Then you got your RCA inputs, RCA outputs, 3.5 millimeter auxiliary input for non bluetooth devices, left and right channel button because you can pair two of these together and have left and right or stereo sound. Then you got your mic and guitar inputs with your game controls. You also got a big passive radiator in the back.

It’s Bluetooth 5.0 and has a range of up to 150 feet using services like Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple music. It features built-in calibration using adaptive EQ, which measures your audio environment and adjusts audio to match. It’s also got different EQ modes including base jump, game, cinema, and podcast.

It’s got a frequency response of 45 Hertz to 20 K and is rated IPX4 splash-resistant, so while you shouldn’t let it fall in the pool it can handle an accidental spill. What separates this speaker from the rest is the internal design and placement of the actual woofers and tweeters. While other Bluetooth speakers only have a front-facing design, Ultimate Ears designed this unit so that you get a left and a right stereo image by using two sides of the unit instead of one.

For the price, the size, and the sound quality, this speaker is one of the best Bluetooth speakers. This speaker weighs 13 pounds, has a handy-dandy carry handle, it’s splash-proof. It’s not waterproof, it’s splash-proof so don’t take this thing in your bathtub you’ll wreck it. So the UE Hyperboom has some really neat features on it. One of the things that have which is very good is, it has an adaptive equalizer which means when you mute this thing, it knows it and the microphone adjusts the sound for the location of the speaker. So, no matter where you put this thing outside, in your bathroom, your living room, the microphone on the speaker is going to listen to the sound and it’s going to adjust the sound so it sounds good no matter what.

It remembers up to eight devices, you can also help two devices at the same time. Basically, it has play- pause, a couple of different input selectors on the top the optical, and the two Bluetooth. It has a USB out for charging your device and that’s what it calls the magic button. On the top, it’s basically the play-pause button if you tap it twice, I think it skips the song, if you hold it down, it’ll play your playlists, so it does a couple of different things.

JBL PartyBox 300

In the box, you got your usual books and Quick Start Guide,you get a power cable, and you get a car charger and this cable is thick and long, so if you’re rocking this speaker on a tailgate party you’re good to go. The features that you get with the JBL PartyBox 300 are you got JBL signature sound, you get a lightshow, portable with rechargeable battery, you got mic and guitar inputs, wireless bluetooth streaming, your battery playtime is 18 hours and you also got your bass boost button to boost the bass in your music.

For the pairing process, its really simple just like any other Bluetooth speaker, once you power on the JBL, hit the pairing button, go to your phone’s bluetooth menu, and select the PartyBox 300. To connect two PartyBox 300 together couldn’t be any easier. All you have to do is hold down the pairing button on each speaker for five seconds, let it go, and they’ll automatically connect really simple.

The JBL PartyBox 300 is the definition of a party speaker, the build quality is everything you expect from JBL speakers, high quality parts nothing cheap. The look is awesome, it definitely looks like a party speaker. You got all your ports in the back RCA in and out, so this way if you got other speakers you can pair them up, it doesn’t have to be a JBL speaker as long as you got your RCA jacks on deck, connect them to whatever you want.

You got your USB in and out, so if you’ve got a USB flash drive throw all your music on it, if you having a party you can let your music rock out. You can also use that USB slot to charge your phone, your tablet, your camera, whatever you got. You get 18 hours of battery life, if you’re rock in there with RGB lights and max volume, you can probably subtract four to five hours off of that, but still 13 hours that’s long enough for any party. You got your RGB lights on the front, you’ve got the mic and the guitar.

SOUND QUALITY:

It sounds perfect, music sounds well-rounded and balanced, the EQ to base ratio is spot-on and there’s no distortion at higher levels. If for some reason, the speaker isn’t loud enough you can pair it with another hyper boom for an even louder atmosphere. For the size of this thing, it sounds incredible, it’s a single channel Bluetooth speaker so you’re not getting all that stereo sound but the sound is marvelous. So, features wise it has the adaptive EQ, there is an application that you get for that. You can use the Ultimate Ears application as a little equalizer on there also, find an equalizer to adjust it.

The big thing with this speaker is the sound, the sound is magnificent. It’s four hundred dollars, so it’s a little on the high end, for a speaker with this size and volume but I think it’s worth it. You can tweet the sound quality on these things with the help of the equalizer and it’ll sound great. The sound comes out from two sides so it really fills the room. The frequency response is to get down to 45 Hertz same as the JBL party box 300 so that’s pretty awesome.

JBL PartyBox 300

I tested out the sound quality on these with 50% volume and the bass boost off and then I increased the volume slowly to 100 and turned the bass boost on. The sound on this speaker is amazing, if you like the JBL Boombox, you’re gonna love this. Just imagine a JBL Boombox that’s a little bit louder and has way more bass with RGB lights. This is incredible and when this one sounds this good then when you pair up two PartyBox 300 together, it sounds really great and loud enough with the punching bass.

If you’re looking for bass you definitely got to go with the PartyBox, it has a lot more bass and when you hit that bass boost, you’re gonna feel it in your chest. The sound on these speakers is gonna blow you away, it’s super loud, and that bass when you hit the bass button the extra bass button it’s gonna blow you out of your chair. The bass on this is incredible, but it could have been a little bit more with the highs and the mids. But you got to remember these are party speakers, this is not a sound bar, this ain’t the speaker that you’re gonna have in your bed, this is party speaker so you want max bass.

WHICH ONE IS WORTH BUYING?

In my opinion, the Hyperboom from Ultimate Ears are worth buying than the JBL PartyBox 300 because the Hyperboom sounds the same as the PartyBox 300 and the Hyperboom is splashproof while the PartyBox 300 is not but the price of the Partybox 300 is fifty dollars more than the Hyperboom’s price.
