Ultimate Ears Megablast

The Megablast from the Ultimate Ears is almost like the updated features in the older model speakers from the Ultimate Ears like the Megaboom and the Boom speakers. This speaker is retailing for around a hundred and ninety dollars on amazon which is among the affordable side for a speaker from Ultimate Ears. 

JBL Xtreme 2

The Xtreme 2 speaker from the JBL is the updated version speaker of the JBL Xtreme. This speaker is available in five different colors black, blue, red, green, and camouflage. If you buy this for outdoor activities, I suggest getting the black as it’s the easiest to keep clean and it’s always gonna look brand new which is retailing for around two hundred dollars. All other colors are retailing for more than two hundred dollars.

DESIGN: 

Ultimate Ears Megablast

The Megablast goes for an ultra simplistic appearance, I mean it is about as basic as you can get for a speaker but it’s classy and simple. You got the mesh on the front, and you’ve got the rubberized panels on the top, bottom, and side. On the rubberized side is where you have got your volume Rockers with the huge plus and minus buttons. On the top of the speaker, you have got your power button, so when you press it you will get the voice prompt about how much battery left in your speaker.

Also, on the top of the speaker, there is a tiny little button there that will allow you to pair this via Bluetooth to just about any device, and it will also allow your friends to Bluetooth in when they want to play their songs too. On the bottom, we’ve got a convenient carrying ring, so we can actually suspend this and hang it somewhere, and under the ring, we have our micro USB charging port but you’re barely gonna have to use that because it also supports wireless charging.

JBL Xtreme 2

It has pretty much the same size as the original JBL Xtreme, just an updated version. This has a decent amount of weight on it but you can easily carry this with one hand. On the top, there’s your Bluetooth pairing button, you got the volume up and down button, your play and pause button, your power button, and the JBL connect plus button. You got two hooks for your shoulder straps and JBL Brandon on the front. You have got a mesh material covering the whole speaker, definitely feels like quality.

There’s also the LEDs that are going to tell you battery life, on the bottom you got a nice rubber stopper because this thing has a lot of basses, so that’s gonna keep it in place on your table. On the back there is a water-resistant little flap and underneath the flap, there’s your 3.5 input for non-Bluetooth devices so you can use this wired, there’s your micro USB service slot so this way’s you’ve got to update the speaker plug it into your computer using a micro USB charging cable, there is also a USB charge out that’s how you’re gonna charge your phone or your tablet, and there’s your power input, simple enough.

Ultimate Ears Megablast

The Ultimate Ears is a classy company and this is a little bit on the higher end of the electronics. It also comes with a wireless charger as well as a charging cord. you’re completely set up for what you will need to be able to charge this without having to plug it in. This version is an IP67 rating which means that it is both dustproof and completely waterproof, and submersible. Unlike the older model, the UE Megablast will actually float in the water which was different than the old UE Boom which sunk to the bottom.

The UE Megablast is super easy to use and also, through the app you can also pair them together up to eight devices and they can be different UE devices. You can pair together with a UE Megablast with a UE Boom too if you want it to and you can do up to eight, which can power any party. There’s a lot of techs that go into this speaker, it’s Wi-Fi enabled, you can also hook it up with Alexa, Siri, Google home mini, you can do all sorts of things with it, that you can’t do with a lot of the budget speakers.

JBL Xtreme 2

The JBL Xtreme 2 does have a shoulder strap and the box claims that this produces unleashes powerful sound everywhere. As far as the features, you get 15 hours worth of battery life and this takes three and a half hours to charge from zero to a hundred. I got a bunch of JBL speakers, JBL is the best when it comes to battery life, so even if you’re rocking this on the max volume you’re still looking at anywhere between 10 and 12 hours. It’s IPX7 waterproof that means you could submerge this in 3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes, and you got a USB charge out, so this way you can charge your phone, your tablet, your camera, whatever you want to.

This also features JBL Connect Plus, so that means you could wirelessly pair this with up to 100 speakers, it doesn’t have to be a JBL Xtreme 2 it could be a JBL Pulse 3, JBL Boombox, or any JBL speakers it has JBL Connect Plus you can pair these up together up to 100. Inside the box, you have got your speaker themselves, your shoulder strap with nice hooks quality metal, little JBL Brandon with a little cushion on it, then you got your usual books, your regular plug with the style in the pin, and your second part of the plug. The pairing process is really simple just press the Bluetooth pairing button, go to your Bluetooth settings and select the JBL Xtreme 2 and you are done.

SOUND QUALITY:

Ultimate Ears Megablast

The sound is the most important thing on anyone’s mind when it comes to speakers like this. I tested out the sound quality on this with about 50% volume and its true 360 degrees sound coming equally out of this. The UE Megablast has twenty five-millimeter drivers inside of it, multiple actually that point in different directions. At 100 percent volume, when I walked away it sounded loud enough and there was clarity too even at a higher volume. You can have a pretty decent-sized party with the UE Megablast as it has a pretty impressive sound and really true bass coming through. The mids are really clear, the highs are crisp, and there’s almost no distortion. You get enough volume here to power a party and it’s shooting out the sound in all directions.

JBL Xtreme 2

The sound quality is crystal clear, and it sounds balanced. If I have to compare this to the original JBL Xtreme, that has a little bit less bass but more of a balanced sound still this one sounds better than that. The JBL Xtreme 2 definitely sounds amazing and if you plan on walking around with this all day it’s a lot easier to carry using the shoulder strap. The sound quality is crystal-clear, it’s nice and balanced, has punchy bass but no distortion at max volume.

WHICH TO BUY?

In my opinion, you should buy the Ultimate Ears Megablast because it is better than the JBL Xtreme 2 for a lower price than the Xtreme 2. The Megablast has better battery performance than the Xtreme 2 and also the Megablast has Amazon Alexa built-in and Xtreme 2 doesn’t have that. The Megablast is IP67 rated while the Xtreme 2 is IPX7 rated, so for a lower price the Megablast is better than the Xtreme 2 to buy in all the way.
