Detail Review:
INTRODUCTION:
Ultimate Ears Megaboom 3
The Ultimate Ears Megaboom 3 is an updated version Bluetooth speaker in its line-up. These Bluetooth speakers from the Ultimate ears are well-known for their heavy and punchy bass. These speakers are retailing for around two hundred dollars.
Bose SoundLink Revolve+
The Bose SoundLink Revolve Plus is water-resistant and features 360-degrees sound. This speaker is retailing for a higher price range of three hundred dollars. As Bose products are known for their quality, the same way these are also really a qualitative product from Bose.
DESIGN:
Ultimate Ears Megaboom 3
You can hold this speaker in one hand easily, and also you got a little loop thing there, so if you want to hang this somewhere you can but it’s stiff though. It’s gonna be a lot better than Amazon Tap. What I like about the Amazon Tap is that you got all the media controls at the top on the Amazon Tap but this doesn’t. You need to download the Boom and the Megaboom app to experience all of the features of your speaker.
We have got the volume buttons on the side of the speaker, they’re pretty big and nice, we got the magic button, the pairing button, and the power button. There is a strap where we got the Ultimate Ears logo and right at the below of that strap is where you charge it, so you just need to flip it and when you open this and you got the charging port there which is micro USB. There is a charging indicator right there beside the charging port and when you close the strap then it makes it waterproof, so make sure you close that when you’re done.
Bose SoundLink Revolve+
The speaker has an aluminum build, definitely feels durable, feels like quality, and also you do have a wireless charge cradle that’s sold separately. You got treads on the bottom, so you can put this on a tripod, 360 degrees sound, and underneath the speaker, you have a rubber stopper that’s going to keep it in place on your table. On the back, there’s your 3.5-millimeter auxiliary input and that’s what non-Bluetooth devices and there is your micro USB charging slot and there is also SoundLink Revolve Plus little Brandon.
On the top, there is your power button, you got a battery led, Bluetooth button, volume up and down, then your multifunction button, and your auxiliary button. So if you want to play a non-Bluetooth device, plug an auxiliary cable, hit that auxiliary button and you’re good to go. On the top, you have a carrying handle there’s a cloth material around this and it does feel good. There is not too much flexion on the handle but it feels sturdy you can hang this from a hook easily. Overall, just out of the box through the build quality is definitely nice, this feels like a premium speaker, looks very minimalistic and I like that. For the luxury gray version, everything is the same, just a different color.
FEATURES:
Ultimate Ears Megaboom 3
The UE Megaboom 3 portable Bluetooth speaker is the updated version Bluetooth speaker of its original. The box claims that it is waterproof, it has a powerful 360 degrees sound, and then it tells you how to play and pause music, and go to the next track, and it says you can connect to 150 speakers, 360 degrees sound, 20 hours of battery-life, magic button, drop-proof, and waterproof. At the bottom, it says made for iPhone and iPad, but it’s also made for the Galaxy Tab and Galaxy S and note and any other Android phone.
The box comes in a nice presentation, some crazy artwork right. Inside the box, you get your speakers themselves, Quick Start Guide, we got the cord in here which is micro USB that is a huge letdown, then we got the actual power adapter in there, some more manual stuff and that’s it in the box.
When you open the app, it shows Ultimate Ears, then you need to choose which model speaker you are using so you need to choose Megaphone 3. But before that, you need to go to your Bluetooth settings and select Megaboom 3 by holding the pairing button to pair them up. After it’s connected, we can go back to the app and use it up. Inside the app, you turn the speaker off and on or turn up or down the volume, and you can use the equalizer and all’s good. We have got the party a feature here so if I wanna go and connect multiple speakers so I could do that, I need to hold on to a button on the speaker and do it, so that’s pretty good.
Bose SoundLink Revolve+
There are three differences between the Revolve and the Revolve Plus, number one the price the Revolve is going to run you for two hundred dollars while the Revolve Plus is retailing for three hundred dollars. The second difference is the size, the Revolve is a lot smaller, so you’re getting less sound while the Revolve Plus is bigger, so it’s going to be louder. And the last difference is on the Revolve you don’t have a carrying handle while on the Revolve Plus you got a carrying handle. Other than that the design is pretty similar, they’re both available in two different colors you got triple black and luxury gray.
If you ever bought anything from Bose you already know what to expect, quality, and the presentation and this is no different. The box claims that these are the best portable speaker, deep loud and immersive, you got true 360 degrees sound, the speaker is water-resistant and durable, this features the Bose connect app which enhances control, you can pair two of these together, you can make and answer calls with the speakerphone, and you get up to 16 hours on one charge if you’re rocking maximum volume you could cut that down a little bit. The box comes in a nice presentation, inside the box, you got your speaker themselves, it’s not big fits right in the palm, then you get usual books, then your charging cable this is USB to micro-USB, and last will be your power brick.
You can pair up two of these together and you can put them in party mode or stereo mode. The paring process is very easy just turn them on, hit the power button, Bose SoundLink Revolve Plus will be popped up on your mobile, just tap it and when it will get connected, you will get your voice prompts. To pair two of these together you need to download the Bose Connect app. In order to connect them together, first of all, download the Bose Connect app. Once you open the app, you can see that two of these speakers paired together. The paring process is really simple you just need to follow the prompts.
In the app, you got some settings you can change the name of the speaker, you can change the auto-off timer you can put it to 10 minutes, 30 minutes, one hour, whatever you want, you could turn on and off the voice prompts, you can change the language of the voice prompts, you can check out the user’s manual and the product information, and you can also disconnect the speakers. You also have your left and right stereo or party mode and it also gives the voice prompts when you change the modes. Then you got the battery percentage, your volume slider, and it shows whatever music you are listening to. The difference between party mode and stereo mode is that in party mode both speakers are going to rock at the same volume and in stereo mode one is going to be left and one is going to be right channel.
SOUND QUALITY:
Ultimate Ears Megaboom 3
The original UE Megaboom actually sounded pretty good so on that basis, we would expect this to be actually sound better. I tested out the sound quality on these with the full volume. It really sounds better than the original version of this line-up. If you are not satisfied with the sound quality on this speaker, then you do also have the equalizer setting in the app, in which you can do adjustments in the bass, treble, etc, and get the sound quality as you want.
Bose SoundLink Revolve+
I tested out the sound quality on these when only one of these paired up, the sound on this is crystal clear, that’s the best part about this so far the sound is crystal clear, and you do get 360 degrees sound so that means if you got this on the table at your card game or your barbecue, no matter where anybody’s sitting at they’re all hearing the music the same and I love that feature. As far as the bass, this is not the most bass-heavy speaker in the world, if you like crystal clear sound then this is what you want.
I tested out the sound quality on two of these speakers paired up together and they are in stereo mode with the left and the right channel, and then I switched it over to party mode. If you like the sound on one then you’re going to love the sound of two of these paired together. I think I like the left and right channels better but they both sound crystal clear and that’s what separates Bose from other companies just it doesn’t have that extra deep.
WHICH TO BUY?
In my opinion, both of these speakers are really good. If you want heavy and punchy bass, then you should go for the Ultimate Ears Megaboom 3 and if you want a crystal clear sound quality, then you should go for the Bose SoundLink Revolve Plus it is priced more but it still worth that price.
