Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 2

The Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 2 is currently retailing for around fifty dollars. This is one of the best sounding budget-friendly Bluetooth speakers available in the market currently. This is available in five different colors we’ve got deep-space black, crushed ice grey, radical red, Bermuda blue, and just peach.

The Ultimate Ears Boom 3 is been around for a while. The Ultimate Ears have been doing this Boom speaker different versions of it for a really long time. They were able to produce a pretty nice amount of sound, have a nice form factor, and from a design perspective, they’re pretty nice-looking in my opinion.

DESIGN:

You got your big plus and minus for volume up and down, on the top, there’s your power button, your Bluetooth button, and your multifunctional button. The Multifunctional button can play-pause and skip tracks, no reverse. On the bottom, there is a little tree icon that’s your outdoor boost mode.

On the back at the bottom is where you’re gonna plug it in that’s your micro USB charging slot. Since this is water-resistant, it does float, you got a little flap to cover everything up. The build quality on this feels super rugged and it definitely drops tests approved. I have dropped this five times straight from about six feet with no damage at all and not even a single scratch was there on it. This is IP67 dust and water-resistant, so you can submerge this in water for three feet up to thirty minutes and it does float.

Gigantic plus and minus buttons are there on the speaker for volume. Part of the success of this product is the fact that it’s so easy to interact with. You got a loop on it so you could hang it or attach it to something if you want to it. There is a button on the top of the speaker in between the power button and the Bluetooth pairing button, they’re calling that the magic button. The magic button does play-pause and also skip tracks and then there’s also an LED light for power as well. So, a hundred and fifty dollars for a selection of seven different colors, or you can pay 30 extra dollars and customize the color to whatever you want, thousands of colors to choose from.

The size of these speakers is really small that you can hold them in one hand and it also not weighs heavy. know it’s like a beverage can or Unfortunately, it has a micro USB port for charging, it is not USB Type-C and there is an LED indicator there near the port. The cables Ultimate Ears include I always like them, this is the one upside even though I criticized the micro USB connector.

The box comes in a nice presentation, inside the box you get your speaker themselves, then your charging cable that is micro USB no USB Type-C, and then your books and a quick start-up guide. Pretty much that’s what’s inside the box, there is no charging brick comes with these.

Some of the features as the company claims are this has 360 degrees sound so wherever you put this out on your table everybody’s gonna hear it exactly the same, this reaches outdoor boost mode so you got two different settings one for indoor and one for outdoor, this is IP67 dust and water-resistant and it also floats, you get in 13 hours worth of battery life and it takes two and a half hours to fully charge this speaker, the Bluetooth range is 100 feet, this is rugged and drop proof, you have a multi-functional button that allows you to play-pause, and skip your tracks, no reverse, you can pair two of these together for stereo sound or left and right channel, and you can connect two devices at the same time.

The difference between the original one the Wonderboom 2 is the original comes in eight different colors while the new one comes in five different colors. The original has 360 degrees sound while the new one has 360 degrees sound plus outdoor boost mode. The next difference is the original has 10 hours worth of battery while the new one has 13 hours worth of battery. The fourth difference is the original is IPX7 water-resistant while the new one is IP67 dust and water-resistant. The fifth difference is the original you can pair two of these together for stereo mode while with the new one you compare two of these together for stereo mode or left and right channel. The last difference is the original is made out of a single fabric tone while the new one is made of a dual fabric tone.

To pair these up, hit the power button, take it over to the phone’s Bluetooth menu, select Wonerboom 2 and it will get connected within seconds. In order to connect two of them together, you’re gonna power on each unit, you’re gonna hold the multi-functional button on the first one you will hear a sound and the light will be flashing, then do the same thing on the second one, and both of these will get connected together. To switch between stereo and left and right channels, hold down the multi-functional button again for a few seconds.

Ultimate Ears Boom 3

This is a new version from the Boom line-up. They’re still claiming 360-degree true and balanced sound, so they’ve got a cylindrical design. There’s one button to kind of control everything, so anyone reaching out for it can figure out what to do with it, if you need to pause it like to have a conversation, answer a phone call, or something, there’s a big button on the top which is going to behave that way. There’s another cool feature party up, you can pair two speakers for stereo sound, so you could just sort of amplifying what you’re listening to if you have more than one of these and you can also pair up to a hundred and fifty speakers. It has 15 hours of battery life, they say it’s got durable fabric, customizable, drop-proof, and it is also waterproof IP67.

The box comes in a nice presentation and typically the boxes from Ultimate Ears come in different colors, and they’ve always had artwork on the packaging as well. The type of cable they give you is somewhat flimsy, like on PlayStation controllers but for this particular device the way that it fits in there since it’s recessed it’s protected. Because it’s recessed and therefore if it gets yanked or something, it’s not gonna put all the pressure on the connector itself, so if you’re gonna go micro USB you have a nice cable like this, and it’s flat too so it’s not gonna get all scrambled up.

You do have trademark sound effects on this speaker, and there’s an app that goes with it which makes it easier to pair this speaker with other devices and let you enjoy a couple of other extra features. But in practice in most cases, people just connect to this like any other Bluetooth device and get to the party.

The Ultimate Ears do sell accessories that utilize the spot on the bottom of the speaker there for little docking type setups, where it could charge on the dock. It does strike the balance for Portability and sound, it’s loud enough for a party. It’s meant to be a simple user interface that everybody can understand and a speaker that you’re willing to take with you, that’s the key. If you don’t have it with you, it ain’t much of a party.

SOUND QUALITY:

Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 2

First I tested out the sound quality on these with indoor mode, and at max volume, and then I tried outdoor mode. The outdoor mode does get a little bit louder and you can hear the vocals a lot more clearer compared to the indoor mode. I tested out the sound quality on these when two of these are connected together. First I tested with stereo sound then I tried the left and right channels and with both modes, it sounded great.

If there’s any difference in sound between the original Wonderboom and the Wonderboom 2, the outdoor mode makes a major difference on the Wonderboom 2. The sound quality for the price, it’s really excellent, it’s nice and loud, it’s crystal clear, nice highs and mids, and you got a deep rich punchy bass, it’s not audiophile quality but it’s perfect for normal use.

Ultimate Ears Boom 3

I tested out the sound quality on these, they sound really loud enough at the normal volume itself, and at maximum volume, it sounds really great and loud. As far as the 360 degrees sound effect, it was like a little bit less sound coming out of the backside of the speaker if you spin it around but it’s most of the way pretty similar volume in each direction. 

WHICH TO BUY?

In my opinion, you should consider the price of the product when you compare the products with each other because sometimes with a little difference in the price there will be more we gonna get. But most of the time when there is a huge difference in their price range, you should consider the purpose of buying a product. In the same manner, if you need a Bluetooth speaker for only indoor parties the Wonderboom 2 is good for you to buy but if you need a Bluetooth speaker for outdoor parties where there is already too much noise and still you want to listen to your music, you should go for the Boom 3, even though its price is more its worth of that price.
